    30xx Series Founders Edition

I was aiming for a 3060 Ti as I only play at 1080p@144hz currently. Just something that was a bump for a GTX 970. Managed to snag one of the 3070 Ti FE this morning. Bit overkill for my needs, but it's not like there's much stock around to be picky.

New Dell IPS S2721DGF 165hz gaming monitor

It is possible to get 1440p@120hz on the 27GL850 with the Xbox Series X, but you need to disable Adaptive Sync on the monitor. You can't have both 1440p@120hz AND VRR, sadly. The LG seems to have VRR on HDMI capped at 100hz. This Dell seems to be one of the only screens that can do both 120hz...

Intel announce new hexacore laptop CPUs including flagship i9 8950HK

Dell is about to refresh the XPS 15 with the Core i7-8750H and a GTX 1050 Ti (https://www.notebookcheck.net/The-Dell-XPS-15-9570-is-here-and-is-more-powerful-than-ever.293972.0.html). The ASUS’ Zephyrus M is looking pretty sweet now too.

Gigabyte Aero 15 X Gaming Notebook With GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q Graphics

Interesting. One to keep an eye on. Highly doubtful that the screen has G-Sync, but if it does it's almost an instant purchase for me.

    BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Yeah not very far at all. If I look out of my front door I can see the cab at the end of the street. It's over 100m, but less than 150m. It's still settling down at the moment so sync speeds keep changing as the cab adjusts, but even so, going from 70mb to 200mb+ is lovely! Line stats from the...

    BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Yeah think so. They had to replace the master socket with a nice G.Fast branded one. Great speeds so far!

    BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Unless I've misread something, it doesn't appear to be much more than what I was already paying for Infinity 2. For Ultrafast 2 it's £59 .99 a month (http://bt.com/ultrafasttoday).

How many have sold up or gone GPU'less?

I haven't giving up the PC or gone to console, but I am starting to rationalize the spec of the machine I actually need for the games I play. I've moved from Desktop/Office setup to a gaming laptop, which is ridiculously over the top for my needs. I mostly exist in the Blizzard or Indie Steam...

    BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

I've just had BT Ultrafast Fibre installed today, upgrading from BT Infinity. My old speeds were 70 down, 20 up. With this new setup, which just required a new master socket and HomeHub, is now 250 down, 40 up (although this is due to increase to nearly 260 once it's settled down). Very happy!

Microsoft Surface Book 2 13" and 14" quad cores imminent

SanDisk Class 10 (80mbps) IIRC I didn't test it extensively as I didn't even get close to filling built-in storage.

Microsoft Surface Book 2 13" and 14" quad cores imminent

I found it was good enough to documents, photos and other bits, but slower than a SATA HDD for games (not unusable though!).

Microsoft Surface Book 2 13" and 14" quad cores imminent

I had the SB1 with 256gb and found that more than adequate. I ended up getting one of these to put a MicroSD card in for a little extra boost while keeping it flush with the chassis.

Microsoft Surface Book 2 13" and 14" quad cores imminent

I keep hoping for the ultimate desktop replacement. I've got a i5 2500K with a GTX 970 and a 1440p 144hz G-Sync display in the office upstairs. I'd love to remove the desktop and keep the screen with a laptop+dock/egpu solution, but there just doesn't see to be the right laptop for me at the...

Microsoft Surface Book 2 13" and 14" quad cores imminent

It's such a shame that MS didn't include Thunderbolt 3 for the USB-C port on the 15". Seems such a missed opportunity. Sure, eGPU isn't for everyone, but it would make the SB2 15 almost perfect for me. Lightweight, great battery, great screen, decent GPU for portable gaming, thunderbolt 3 egpu...

    Recommendation for a Windows ultrabook

As others have said, what you're after doesn't really exist yet. There isn't really the perfect Ultrabook at the moment, but in 6-9 months there might be. My wishlist would be something lightweight, with a GTX 1060 (or whatever the next gen brings) and G-Sync and/or 120hz refresh. Something...

    Alienate 15 r3

I've owned an Alienware 15 R3 for just over a year now and while on the whole, I've been happy with it, I'm starting look around for something else. My main gripe is the weight. It's a beast! If you plan on using it on your lap...as a laptop...be prepared for dead leg. It's uncomfortable on...

G-Sync laptops work with G-sync monitors???

    My Alienware 15 R3 (GTX 1070) with 120hz G-Sync works with my Dell 144hz G-Sync.

    144hz to 60hz - WOWzer

I held out purchasing my Alienware 15 R3 just so I could get one with a 120hz display. I've had 144hz on my desktop for a year and wouldn't go back to 60hz again. It makes my eyes hurt.

Surface Pro 4, Surface Book or Dell XPS 13

The Alienware keyboard surround has the same rubberised plastic feel. I don't mind it.

Adding a desktop icon via GPP with a Mandatory profile

^^ this I redirect everything except Application Data and Start Menu. I use GPP to push out Start Menu Shortcuts. If you're using mandatory profiles I'd recommend looking at UE-V (User Environment Virtualisation) which is part of the Microsoft Desktop Optimisation Pack (MDOP). UE-V is a...
