TT are on local at both FEXs in Northampton. There isn't a limit we put on national though, no, and there's no shortage of capacity, your GPON is terminating exactly the same place it's just a case of cross connect locally or connected across the network to a national handover point depending on...

They pick up both generally, if you let me know your area I could tell you if they’re local, but it’s really down to them whether they they take you locally or at national.

Fujitsu MX1310 Server with a SAS 9210-8i sas card issues

You can use SATA drives on it too, just fyi. I have an LSI 3008 hooked up to an external SAS backplane full of SATA drives. I think you can’t mix and match tho.

    Pfsense standard Vs paid edition?

yeah, I was trying to make the point that they were both Linux but didn’t really make that clear there. Was trying to say that freebsd isn’t really the hot stuff as a router that it used to be.

Fujitsu MX1310 Server with a SAS 9210-8i sas card issues

Look up flashing it in IT mode with a more recent bios from LSI, it’ll solve a majority of your problems.

    Pfsense standard Vs paid edition?

I’ve bailed on pfsense after the recent plus debacle. Tbh, openwrt does everything I need, I was tempted to go back to vyos but Linux is generally superior to freebsd when it comes to the routing and firewall stack now.

    Wake on LAN

You can create a port forward that targets your LAN broadcast address with the UDP port 9 packet. That’s the most ghetto way to do it. Granted, this is opening a potential DOS hole but it’s UDP so it’s not like anyone is going to be able to probe it to see it open.

    Wake on LAN

What OS are you running? You should only really need to enable WOL in your BIOS if it’s a windows machine, and make sure the flag is flipped in your NIC driver in windows. (Slightly different flag in Linux). There are too many apps to count though, pick whichever free one you can for your phone...

It's not cheap but from a future-proofing point of view and a differentiation POV, the business case writes itself really.

    Basic SAS question (noob <<)

Does your server have a SAS backplane or are you just looking at hooking up to straight drives?

We're migrating all our kit to XGSPON because it allows us to get many more subs to an OLT, speed-wise/package-wise tho that's down to the consuming ISP. XGSPON is just a better technology for split ratio, speed, power usage, the lot :)

It's not so much they only use poles, it's that they use Openreach PIA, so it's whatever openreach infrastructure exists to your house

Obliged Honestly, couldn't be happier. Fast, IPv6, it just works and works well. Install was smooth and fast, took it under the stairs where all my gear is and was no problem at all.
