    iOS 7 Expectations & Wants

Wow looks like we could be in for some pretty huge change in iOS come WWDC. http://9to5mac.com/2013/04/29/jony-ive-paints-a-fresh-yet-familiar-look-for-ios-7/ I'm not too excited about the "flattening" (if it's like Windows 7 > Windows 8 where 8 really looks worse on the desktop) but the...

***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

If you were to do this when your contracts runs out ABSOLUTELY change it to a SIM only plan. Otherwise you are effectively paying Three for a phone that doesn't exist every month.

Just got kicked by Aryan, seemingly for no reason, before he himself left. Sultanauk was kind enough to let me back in :p

Considering it was in your pocket, and the placement of it, it makes me think it could (at least in part) be due to overheating. That's right where the Nexus 4 heats up under load.

Apple Wordwide Developers Conference [June 10-14], San Francisco

Don't expect any hardware at all. Although Intel will be launching Haswell a week before so perhaps there could be an odd hardware upgrade if they don't count such a thing as "amazing new". But Apple are known to drag their feet with processor updates...

*** Show Off Your Apple Hardware ***

You could format that Mac mini and stick either Linux or Windows 7/8 on it? I don't mean Bootcamp you can quite literally format the HDD of any Mac and treat it the same as a PC if you wanted. I don't know if that counts as a "use" though :p

    Windows 8 Adoption Poor

But what's the point of bringing it back then? I would imagine most businesses want the Start Menu back simply because they want to ignore Metro. This won't appease them at all.

    Windows 8 Adoption Poor

Aaaaaand all my hopes have been quashed! http://www.theverge.com/2013/4/22/4251610/windows-8-1-start-button It's basically just a dumb button back to the Start Screen :(

    Windows 8 Adoption Poor

I do agree with you but it shows what a mess Microsoft is in. Microsoft have tried "forcing" its existing massive installed base (Windows XP to 7) onto a UI they don't want (Windows 8) in order to hope they'll buy a (Microsoft taking years to catch up) Windows tablet/phone/overly expensive...

    Windows 8 Adoption Poor

I would imagine there were more considerations - primarily business pressure, lack of sales and lack of consumer engagement. When someone on a forum says they like Windows 8 that could mean anything between them spending most of their time in Metro (and downloading and PURCHASING apps from the...

http://www.theverge.com/2013/4/16/4229900/windows-8-1-boot-to-desktop-option Sounds like Microsoft are caving on the "We will ram Metro down your throat" push.

How to securely wipe Android handset before sale

http://www.androidcentral.com/securely-wiping-your-android-phone-makes-it-just-fine-sell-fud That provides some options. It is a little weird that Android doesn't have such a good default policy on this. iPhones for example have both hardware encryption and encrypt the entire user space. When...

Oh I meant that the Qi spec takes all that into account. In the same way rating a standard wall AC to USB adapter output at 5W takes into account the inefficiencies of the power converter too. Either way the phone will receive 5W.

***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

    1. Yes more energy is lost in the wireless transfer itself. Can't seem to find any figures on it comparing the difference. 2. The Qi standard (which are what Google & Nokia use) delivers 5W of power which is the same as a standard (1A/5V) USB charger. So it shouldn't be any slower. 3. The...

Google Now - Who actually makes use of it?

I used it for a bit but disabled it due to the fairly dire privacy implications. For it to function your location history is continuously logged as is your search history. At least it does say something positive about Google that it's easy to see the data they hold, make your own decision...
