Shuffled up on to the roof yesterday, have had a leak coming through from the rear fire break wall top (it extends above the roof tiles about 15cm) so went over it with bitumen fibre paint (evercryl) as recommended by a neighbour.
Some neighbours have used it with success for the same problem...

Screwing into the back would offer more support, and you can use longer screws. If the back part is well supported and doesn't sag the front shouldn't.
For cable management a few large screw hooks should do the trick.
