I can't get my optical out / Spdif working on my board, or so it seems. I have plugged my surround system head unit in, and it says that there is no optical signal being received. It seems to say it is enabled, but when I go to the volume controls it is greyed out. I have enabled HD Audio...

Right took it apart and it booted outside the case with one stick of ram and the HD. So put it back in, still worked. Built it back bit by bit powering up and down and it's a dodgy stick of ram. So it now has 2Gb and I have binned one of those sticks :) Phew!! Cheers folks

I just do it. Unplug everything, whack it on the table and build away. Don't know how many I have built (a few ;) ) and never ever had a problem with a build. Aslong as you dont rub everything on the carpet first you will be fine without one ;)
