How modern dog rescue centres operate nowadays

A colleague adopted a couple of Romanian dogs last year via some sort of charity. One had a lot of behavioural issues (scared of everything) as it had likely been mistreated. Both dogs are absolutely fine now and he's very pleased he did it.

    Audi TT MK1 225

If I was in your position, I'd have it. You might spend a bit sorting the advisories and cambelt, but even if something big goes wrong you'll lose very little.

    Good bulb brands

Osram or Philips in my experience.

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Ditto, I ended up building an i5 10400-based machine as a replacement, as there were no suitable off-the-shelf alternatives. My N54L is now purely for backups and stays powered off most of the time.

    Is my monitor dying?

I'd be getting on to ASUS. You may get either a solution, and even though the warranty period is three years they may offer some goodwill if it's not solvable/fixable.

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

There must have been virtually no profit at all in the Gen7 I bought; I think it cost me barely more than £100. I'd be all over that even at two or three times the price today.

At what point do you call it quits on a car?

This is my approach. When my last car (11 year old Focus) reached a stage where it needed a new ABS pump, the clutch was starting to slip, and a few other bits were on the horizon, combined with a really strong desire for something more interesting, I decided to get rid. The equation will...

    Is my monitor dying?

Apologies, I meant refresh rate! I've never experienced anything like that - a performance decrease rather outright failure sounds more like a software issue, but as it's affecting separate ports from separate sources, I'm at a loss to troubleshoot it. Is there anything within the monitor...

Office for Mac 2019 - upgrade?

Yes, I think I was being over-cautious. Separately, it's not like MS are going to be rolling out some major new feature that I'll desperately want either.

Office for Mac 2019 - upgrade?

I've run older software for longer in the past. I suppose my fear these days is centred on vulnerabilities of unsupported software, but I suppose the chances of exploits being found and used is low.

Office for Mac 2019 - upgrade?

I'll remain hopeful that Office 2024 is my best option. I don't need to do anything quickly, I've uninstalled the auto update element to stop the nagging upgrade reminders.

Pickups losing their commercial vehicle status

The government are very likely thinking long term about the declining tax base from ICE cars, and by gradually increasing the EV/PHEV taxes might be able to maintain a steady level of revenue.

    Is my monitor dying?

What happens when you try to select a higher resolution? Is it defaulting to a lower one or not offering the option? Are you attempting to change via Windows Display Settings on both machines?

    CPU naming moan

As I said, I've probably been missing out as my aversion is irrational.

    It's too hot :(

Is that still a possibility? I can't see anything in terms of warnings over the next week on the Met Office site.

Pickups losing their commercial vehicle status

That makes sense, as business owners move on to the next tax efficient option, HMRC will follow. In the meantime might it help EV sales a little?

Those who garage your motorbike, do you use an indoor cover?

No cover on mine, but then I ride it a couple of times a week on average throughout the year, and don't have any issues with dust in the garage. Edit: also, my garage is integral, and doesn't get too cold throughout winter.

Pickups losing their commercial vehicle status

I wonder what percentage are actually used for their intended purpose, as opposed to being a tax-efficient choice. Will it increase the value of those already registered?

Lost Bitcoins Man is still trying

It seems like an exercise in futility. I had a colleague who binned an old laptop containing over 100 Bitcoins when they were worth almost nothing. He's pragmatic about his loss; this guy needs to move on with is life.

    Desk + built in chassis?

As much as I love the aesthetics of some desk PCs (LTT projects for example) I've always thought they represent form over function, and look like a massive hassle - they can still be fantastic to look at though.
