Just to close off this thread. Bought a 2nd hand Gygabyte GA-Z77-D3H mobo and a MSI GTX970. Reused the Xeon and RAM from the Dell. Reused the Case, PSU, DVD and SSD/HDDs from the old PC. Slapped it together and nice little upgrade. Running The Division great! Old PC...

Opps, sorry didn't fully explain my self there. The firepro was mentioned just as a check to see if the performance had changed due to the windows 10 upgrade. it hasn't (cant find the link, but its the same). The other readings are related to swapping my 6950 from its current set up...

Update: Also.... managed to wedge my GPU into the Dell Mobo last night. Wanted to test if the CPU in the old PC was bottlenecking the GPU at all. Interesting results, the GPU performance was actually lower! The Dell is running windows 10 now and has a different HDD and Ram configuration...

Hmm, Was struggling to find a LGA 1155 Mobo with 4 ram slots that's still for available sale... found PCPARTs picker and one of the options is 'supports ECC'. If i tick that, basically all the mobos disappear. Anyone know if ECC RAM is not compatible with 'normal' MOBOs?? EDIT...

Errr..... if i point it to a folder called podcasts I expect it to pick up everything in there as podcasts. I also expect it to give me a warning if its going to remove them completely from my computer. But I guess thats just related to podcasts and their short term type nature...

Yup. :D After it wasnt moving by hand, i actually took the GPU out the pc for a proper look... after looking at it 'properly' i then attempted using a coin on the bugger!? haha... Yup, just flicked the switch. Need to read the hardocp review about the issue they had with theirs...

Just installed my Toxic 6950 I purchased on last Fridays daily deal.... Gonna be honest.... took me a while to find the switch. The big silver disc on the face of the card just wouldn't move!!!! QUick check on google and an embarressed reboot later i can confirm my card has full unlocked...

As above. use driversweeper to remove all traces of nvidia software. Then install the ATI drivers

Made my mind up too... Went for a 6950 2gb. Hoping it will unlock to 6970 specs. I know I have an old mobo etc but there is the possibility of running XF in the future with this choice - Ill give XF a try when the next gen cards come out and everyone jumps ship and sells there old cards...

Hmmm.... bugger. Although, im reading up on how my MOBO does with XFIRE now. I assume XF 6950 2gb should be more than capable for most things... especially if they can be 'unlocked'.... even if they are limited to 8x each due to the mobo restrictions. ulgh... maybe ill just play at...
