Airlines do vary, but generally to the USA you get to take 2 pieces of luggage, each weighing no more than 32kg. Yes that's a lot, but it's the norm. I guess Americans take a lot of junk with them when they travel...

These cartons are usually ok to keep for months at room temperature, as long as you don't open them. Only the ones from the chiller cabinet need using up quick. Having said that a GIANT orange lolly does sound good.....

As someone's already mentioned, most airlines only upgrade people if the economy's overbooked but there are free seats in business or first. This does happen, although rest assured you won't be the only one asking for an upgrade, and I will guarantee that the check-in staff will be sick to death...
