    Why is Bit-tech so biased??

They probably didn't bother to check properly or possibly becuase the review has a bias to begin with. Or perhaps they wanted to spark discussion and in turn get more site hits? Though they are hardly the worst when it comes to tech journalism. During the iphone 5 launch event yesterday I came...

GTX480 SLi worth it or start again?

A 680 is generally, slightly slower than a pair of 480's. However it produces far less heat, noise (trusting you get a good one) and consumes far less power. Also, no sli scaling problems which some people have, not that I've had any. Another point of note is power draw through the pci-e slots...

Is quad channel memory a gimmick?

    LGA 1356 says hello.

Is quad channel memory a gimmick?

It allows for an extra dimm before you start to double up the banks. Useful for adding more memory and for unregistered ram. Of course accessing more memory faster helps if your usage pattern is memory bandwidth dependant, handy for when you push the octo cores to their limit.

    Sapphire 7970 Toxic 6GB

Waiting for the raft of users to tell others in great detail how to spend someone else's money. 6gb should cover 27/30" surround + aa + ultra high res textures and mods nicely. Trusting you have enough gpu grunt, of course.

    24 pin MB Connector Burnt!

I ran a few basic tests before I shipped my hx1000 back to corsair on the new x58-oc. One additional pci-e power connector does the job for 2 way sli but adding the gtx460 back in as well caused both atx and the pci-e sata plug to get slightly warm. Using both I had no temp rise on the cables...

    DPD have just been......

Oh wow I didn't believe anybody would do that so checked it out, that's an amazingly stupid design choice. No option for 120hz/2560 res over dvi on a top end gpu? lol, just lol.

    DPD have just been......

Should perform well at 1280x1024. You may run into vram limitations though.

    24 pin MB Connector Burnt!

Looks like it's the x58 oc board + a good usb hub, I'll repair the x58 extreme and hx1000 connectors and keep the old mobo as a backup. Forgot my dac has usb in, might as well use that. Cheers for the help ALX. :)

    24 pin MB Connector Burnt!

It seems assassin & oc feature the much needed pci-e power plugs. However the oc has a measly 2 usb 2.0 & no spdif. (not even a header) The assassin seems to cost an arm and a leg wherever I look. :(

    24 pin MB Connector Burnt!

Gonna add myself to the 'fermi burning on the dancefloor' list. My sig rig blew at the weekend during a bf3 session. HX1000 Gigabyte x58 extreme i7 950 @ 4.2 2x 480's I had about a month earlier, removed a gtx 460 that was sitting in the 3rd slot as that was starting to cause the system to...

    Dedicated physX?

It does. You have to delete the physx files from the mirrors edge folder so it uses the ones provided by nvidia drivers. Then it will work on the gpu.

    6GB RAM in a laptop - WHAT?

There are a few 'portable desktop' systems from clevo (X7200) and its various rebrands. Based on a desktop x58 it uses skt 1366's tri channel. The latest versions uses x79 with sb-e so it gets quad channel. They do, just some oems cut costs by using a single higher capacity stick of ram than two...
