    HP DM1

I gave mine to my niece after a year. I struggled with the keyboard to the point where I'd had enough. The whole point of me having it was for being able to use Visual Studio on the move and it worked for that, but too many typos (because of keys not being recognised etc.) put death to that and...

    HP DM1

I've got the Crucial SSD installed (the m4 128Gb). It seems a lot quicker with some things but pretty bad on others. Windows Update seemed to take way too long to install just over 100 updates and installing Visual Studio 2010 took a long time too (longer than on the mechanical drive I took...

Is Vengeance RAM worth the extra couple of quid for me?

The Crucial RAM I looked up on Crucial's own website (I put in my laptop details) and it recommended the RAM I mentioned so they're pretty much guaranteeing it to work. The Corsair RAM was off OcUK. I'm looking at a Crucial M4 SSD anyway (based on recommendations from others on this forum -...

Is Vengeance RAM worth the extra couple of quid for me?

Thanks pgi947, I think I'll order the Crucial RAM then. I was thinking that anyway because it is cheaper afterall, but I bought an OCZ SSD because it was cheaper and I ended up being disappointed so I didn't want to make the same mistake again!

Is Vengeance RAM worth the extra couple of quid for me?

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade the RAM in my HP DM1-4027ea "netbook" (11.6" AMD E-450) from 4Gb to 8Gb. I've been doing quite a bit of photo editing lately and have found it sluggish when I have Firefox (with several tabs) and Outlook running at the same time hence the want to upgrade. I started...

    HP DM1

Thanks petertr2000, I saw the benchmarks - that's quite an improvement! Would be greatly welcomed! I'll take a look at getting a Crucial M4, preferably the 128Gb (my DM1 has pretty much replaced the desktop and old vaio laptop) although it depends on the price differences between that and the...

    HP DM1

I bought an OCZ Agility 3 a few months back for my dm1-4027ea, but I was disappointed with the performance (the laptop seemed to hang at times although it did boot faster) so I got rid of it. I've had another read through this thread and the general thought is that the Crucial M4 SSD would be a...

    HP DM1

I have to wonder when Overclockers will be stocking the HP DM1 laptop, or indeed any other HP laptop in order for any aforementioned companies to be competitors in the sense of the context of this thread.

    Netbook performance

On from what knuckle said, I've also got the DM1 and I'm very pleased with it. I had (well, still have) a 13" Vaio (C2D T5500) which was heavy and power hungry. I tend to get about 5-6hrs out of the DM1 (browsing, email, a bit of msoffice etc) and the resolution is better than my wife's Asus...

    HP DM1

I have a 13" Sony Vaio but so glad I bought my 4027ea, the Vaio rarely gets used (I only get 1.5hrs out of that battery and it half burns my legs!)

    HP DM1

I almost bought the 4004sa off the HP site but ended up getting the 4027ea *** instead. They are identical though, **** the HD6310 graphics but it is definitely the HD6320! I am a little gutted as I paid like £20 more than that only a week ago! ** The mentioning or hinting name of...

    HP DM1

Sounds good! The Vaio that I'm replacing had Intel 950GM graphics which was damn awful which is why I wanted something with some grunt. This is definitely ideal for me! :)

    HP DM1

Bought the 4027ea today after reading the comments on this thread. So far, I'm quite impressed although the keyboard feels a bit odd and I'm finding I often press a key and it doesn't seem to acknowledge it. The demo in a local shop had the same issue though, so it's not just mine. Although, it...

Need help choosing between these laptops?

Definitely, there's a big difference between the 17" of the XPS and the 11.6" of the Alienware!

New Laptop keeps Blue Screening. HELP

Sorry to hear that reseating the memory didn't work. When I've had the IRQL not less or equal BSOD though, it's usually been hardware related unfortunately, but it's definitely well worth trying what you can first.

New Laptop keeps Blue Screening. HELP

I'd say as a first test, unplug and reseat the RAM sticks. This only helps if you have easy access to them though - I wouldn't disassemble a new laptop, but if it's just a little door underneath (and you're not breaking any warranty seals), it should be fine.

Acer Aspire 5935g ati graphics card not working??

That seems quite strange, I've never seen a driver fail on Win7 yet that works on Vista. Is the old hard drive knackered entirely? Or could you plug it in using a caddy or something to extract any drivers etc from it? I know some manufacturers have their drivers in a folder on the C drive. That...

Acer Aspire 5935g ati graphics card not working??

I take it this is the driver pack you already tried? (This is on Acer's global website) http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/VGA/VGA_ATI_8.590.0.0_Vistax86Vistax64.zip?acerid=633751855275834622&Step1=Notebook&Step2=Aspire&Step3=Aspire%205935G&OS=V10&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=EMEA_27 (you'll...

Windows live mail - what does it do?

If your wife has a hotmail/live mail account, it integrates really well into it so definitely try it. If she doesn't, then I'd probably recommend Thunderbird instead.

    Would you fix it?

Definitely fix it, cars in this price bracket are hit or miss. If everything else seems OK on the car, then it'll be £500 well spent (because you'd probably lose £500 on what you paid for it in the first place by selling it in a "broken" state).
