    No one Folding anymore

Lol, I take it he didn't have permission then!

Opps! Did he lose his job?

    No one Folding anymore

Some, but not the parts that F@H are still doing.

    No one Folding anymore

Well good to see some people still popping in here at least! :) Since my last post I've cut CPU crunching to ~12hrs/7 for now.

PDW, nice job on helping Team UKraine!

Hey, good to hear from someone :). PDW is still crunching for Ukraine  (at the least, see stats here for example). Yea SETI classic was big for us too, although many of us stayed active long after with folding and other projects too, although our forum has been quieter over the past 5+...

PDW, nice job on helping Team UKraine!

Hey @PDW, nice job on helping team Ukraine :), especially Primegrid!:cool: We've noticed for some months your name in our team's stats (Team AnandTech that is, for those of us helping Team Ukraine). Nice to see that OcUK DC is still alive, although a quick look at the forum here, it seems...

    No one Folding anymore

Hey guys, long time no chat! I seem to remember that OcUK was quite the force in SETI back in the day :). I also remember that OcUK started their SETI team just after I tried recruiting for TA '99-early 00s! lol I only Fold for TA now during the winter race, which (like with you guys) helps...

I'll take your word for it, it's all russian to me! ;) Can you give a summary of the video?

    E46 / E92 M3 advice

Yea some guys in the m3post forum have run 5w/50, 0w or 5w40, I know theirs a thread for the former, their might be one for the latter too. The few people who report that oil grade and post their pictures in the rod bearing condition thread, seem to fair no better than anyone else though, which...

    E46 / E92 M3 advice

All good points, except I think the last one about S2000, very dubious ;). R8 uses 5w/30 a? Interesting, goes to show you don't need the thicker oil for a high hp high revving engine (when designed for it). Any idea how many V10s R8s were sold? (I don't know if the V8 versions were a high revver?).

    E46 / E92 M3 advice

No worries Acme, that post on p3 is just a portion of the data file I've collated (mostly based on the rod bearing condition thread at m3post), the full list has over 320 entries now and I've not quite finished (I could post it here, but it would be a ginormous post! lol. Maybe I could attach...

I don't have the figures for the clearances for those VAC bearings, but they were stated as being the latter extra clearance ones. Those bearings are still available, although the VAC's store website gave no useful information on that! As for the oil pressure, another factor for oil flow for...

    E46 / E92 M3 advice

Forgot to say, somewhere in BE's wiki they talk about measuring a dozen or so cranks, and use the mean of those IIRC! I think the figure they use for the S65 is this - nominal RB journal 51.9811mm, 2.0465" Oh, thought I'd add this in again as it kinda got drowned in my previous mega-post of a...

    E46 / E92 M3 advice

You don't need to own the car to know about this problem! lol :p (I do have 1 JFYI though). No they are not the right clearances when combined with the oil used, that's the whole point of using non OEM bearings. The OEM bearing clearances are too tight at the lower end of tolerance range...

    E46 / E92 M3 advice

Hey! The Swift's are a good little car, I know as I work at a Suzuki dealer :p;) theone8181 The trouble is the wear removes all or part of the protective soft (babbitt) layer of the shell, this then leaves the bearing vulnerable to scoring and galling when dirt particles get in there, or when...

    E46 / E92 M3 advice

True, but you don't see the same number of dodgy bearings pulled from other high revving cars either, the only one I looked into was the Honda S2000 (9k RPM, 100bhp/ltr) just a handful as I recall. Apparently it's super rare for the Audi V10 unit too though. Anyway, big end bearings are not...

    E46 / E92 M3 advice

Agreed, not to mention cars that are often thrashed from cold (e.g rental cars and people who haven't got a clue, or don't give damn!) don't seem to suffer from failed bearings en masse. *********** The flaw is insufficient clearances at the tighter end of their tolerance range combined with a...

Simon Thanks for heads up on the facebook groups, I joined a couple and searched back through 5mths of photos at BMW E9X M3 V8 UK owners club (I'm going to stop at 6mths as it's tediously slow to load!). Out of 31 different peoples photos I looked at, 20 had shells that were completely and...

I never really liked the std M3 e46 exhaust sound, just sounds as if it had some loose baffles. Some aftermarket exhausts do sound good though! :p I'll check out that FB group, thanks. [edit]UK or US group? Or both? Nm, requested to join both. Btw, even if I found that 90% of their bearings are...

    E46 / E92 M3 advice

Simon So inadequate clearances doesn't matter?? True the bigger clearance bearings haven't yet proven themselves in the long run, but seeing as they correct a known flaw, it's a good thing to try. Starving the mains? What? Are you familiar with the an the lube system in engines? The oil is fed...
