Bloomin ada, I started this thread with something in mind (i5 13600) and now I've managed to be shown a cheaper suitable alternative! This is why I appreciate the OCUK members
Thanks for the comments and suggestions - I've just realised that my mobo is actually a x370 (I've checked that it can also be BIOS updated), but wouldnt it be a bottleneck (being PCIe Gen3) for a RTX3080 and 5800x3d?
I was considering the following for around £600:
i5-13600KF ~£350
Gigabyte B660M DS3H AX DDR4 - ~£130
Kingston FURY Renegade 32GB CL16 (2 x 16GB) 3600MHz DDR4 ~£124
I would have thought that my current mobo (Gigabyte x470 Gaming 7) would be too old now (5 years) to make use of a more modern...
Currently running an original 1st gen ryzen 1600x since 2017 and nvidia 1080. I've since upgraded the gfx to a rtx 3080 fe and an ultrawide monitor but am looking to upgrade the cpu to match and have my eye on the i5 13600k since it seems to have been well rated.
My question is tho I'm not sure...
Sharing this for all you tabletop gamers (with kind permission from the mods) :)
LANOPs run successful and popular LAN events and are now looking to branch out into tabletop/social gaming; I've regularly attended LAN events at this venue and the staff are a good laff and super friendly.

I built the rig in my sig just the other week and was looking for a monitor upgrade as well. I'm coming from a 24" BenQ 60hz TN panel that cost £120 about 3 years ago lol! The previous monitor to that used to be a Dell 2405fw or suchlike and that was the one which blew me away all those years...
People say its buttery smooth but tbh I don't get it... not sure if I'm missing the hype about it.... (currently using a Acer Predator 27" 144hz Gsync TN Panel)
To be honest, I'm kinda against paying an extra £100 for the ASUS TN when it's the same panel as the Acer and it looks like you're only paying extra for the branding?
Can anyone tell me what settings they use please? I'm experiencing ghosting and thought that going for the TN from the IPS version would help negate it. The settings I'm using so far are:
144hz
G Sync On
Nvidia Panel VSync On Global (In-Game Vsync Off)
OD Normal (although I can't tell the...
Appreciate the input guys - The TN arrived the other day and my thoughts:
- Initial impressions were that it looked OK out of the box, no dead pixels
- I didn't mind the difference in colour reproduction to IPS (IPS deffo had colours 'pop' and had vibrance but I couldn't see how it would...
I've pulled the trigger on the TN version of the panel so I can do a comparison between the IPS and TN versions as however much of a nice monitor the IPS is, if I'm not 110% happy with it then I can't justify the £600 price tag. Just hoping I don't notice the ghosting on the TN version as much...
Can anyone tell me what these are like please? I've been underwhelmed with the IPS version of this monitor and am hoping the TN version is better with regards to ghosting/response times. With the IPS version, I am getting ghosting whilst playing FPS and I feel the £600 price tag is not...
I'm considering returning my Predator XB271HU after feeling underwhelmed by it. I've ordered the TN version of the model to compare and see if the IPS warrants the £100 premium over the TN version which at this point I doubt. I've gone from a 24" BenQ 60hz and the screen is nice but dont think...
So after some investigation I decided to plop for the Acer Predator XB271HU which I uboxed the other evening and have a query about....
What FPS should I be aiming for to take advantage of the 144hz and G Sync? Naturally with a new rig/gfx card (GTX 1080/See Sig), I simply turned everything up...
I've just purchased one the other day and unboxed it last night - seems ok. Not played on it yet so not had any OMG it's amazeballs reaction to it - quick question re: g-sync - do you need to set it on the monitor or does it come on by default? I've right clicked on the desktop and went to the...
