windows 7 upgrade version - problem activating

It's best to buy the full version, retail or OEM, of 7. The upgrade version is a pain, as you know. I'm only posting this as a warning for others.

    Win7 TV card recordings

Am I right in thinking you can record prgrams in Win7 Media centre and watch those recordings on a different Win7 machine, in your house, over the LAN? I think there used to be DRM issues in XP? Thanks

    Fit together OK?

I left out a mechanical disk from the spec, as I was mainly wondering about the SSD. But will probably be putting one in. I also forgot to ask about a CPU cooler, I wouldn't be overclocking it and would be happier with air. So which cooler (with or without fan mate) for quietness? Cheers

Is it worth it with windows 8 coming this year?

I've never had any problem (re)activating XP, over the net, after hardware changes, including new motherboards.

    Quick, which is quicker, question.

It's a CentOS OS running one Yabb forum. The load average can be 4, 4, 4 or above, at peak times. Top shows more than one instance of Yabb running, so I presume that the Hyper threading is using both threads.

    Oh, 10% quicker 50%?

    Quick, which is quicker, question.

OK thanks, I'll think about changing from the P4 then. As it's a hired server, I think overclocking it would be a bit cheeky! ;) Another silly question; if everything else was equal, would a quad core be twice as fast as a duel? Thanks

    Quick, which is quicker, question.

Hi, Does a "Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz" out perform a "Pentium 4 (630) - 3.00GHz"? No overclocking, it's just in an internet server. Thanks

    Backing up a website?

I recently took some NAS space at the hosts end. I can now backup everything at their end without having to download it to my machine at home. The big problem with backing up to home, I have found, is when you want to upload vast amounts of files it takes forever.

    Mount NAS on a server

It is on the same LAN, the problem was the second NIC wasn't working and the NAS was on this connection. The hosting firm sorted it all out for me, it took them 30 minutes or so. Goodness knows how long it would have took me. But thanks for the pointers, it helped.

    Mount NAS on a server

Your way looks promosing, but it's giving a "mount error 110 = Connection timed out". I guess I need to figure out the port forwarding buisness next. Thanks

    Registron.... lack of support (again)

I image he mean change the entry from ns1.myhost.com to ns1.myotherhost.com and then change it back later. But I'm guessing.
