BOINC won't utilise my GPU. Any ideas?

Also check that you have got the speeds of the card rock stable; i know SETI@home has a limit to the number of work units that you are given, and that gets reduced if you keep returning bad wu- and a bad graphics card can return like 20 bad wu's in a blink of an eye if you weren't looking.

    SETI@Home & Projects News Vol. 185 5th October to 12th October 2012

Wb TT. since all my rigs seem to have work now, and my RAC has gone just slightly higher than kolala's, I issue a fair warning PARP! in my effort to get back into the top 10. Surely in terms of heating the house this wnter, the basement is a better option? or better yet, under the bathroom...

    SETI@Home News Vol. 184 28th July to 24th September 2012

I tried to hold the new newsmeister off for as long as I could, but alas. I've been stomped. Out of the top 10. Curses the CPU work shortages......

Anyone else finding that they have trouble downloading CPU workunits? Getting some (not a lot) of GPU wu, but surprisingly quiet CPUs... don't even know if the old rescheduler/rebrander works?

<Resurrection from the dead sounds> I am back. RL finally given me a break so that I could pop in the hexcore that I bought in erm, Jan was it? could be popped into my system... (remember that chip TBag?) and it lives. huzzah. may it allow me to reclaim the number 9 spot back before...

My little project - Ikea style

I was thinking opposite, could you put say 120 W pico-psus onto each board and then run a multiple DC out from 1 box? no clue if such things exist

    Is my nVidia card borked

Check the temps I guess, also drop down to standard stock speed- i use the speeds found in wiki. I do get these sometimes when I am running a game alongside setiathome. However, normally they sort themselves out and doesn't require a restart for mine.

Want a tiny computer with decent NVidia graphics

Huh- I didn't realise there was a SS rep around :) I'll clarify my experience: the 120mm in the Sg05 doesn't make much noise at all, the zalman cpu cooler and the 560 ti that i have running at 40% fan speed are the ones contributing to the noise. I have the same 560 ti in an Sg01 but I guess...

Want a tiny computer with decent NVidia graphics

a sg05 will fit and power a 560Ti (have to jiggle to fit the power connections on it, but doable). The sg05 needs slimline optical drive (slightly more expensive, and make sure its sata). Also, in terms of hard drive spaces, the lan-li will win, as it can hold 6 3.5 in drives, whereas the sg05...

    Apologies from toxictbag

I hope this hasn't got anything to do with the hex core xeons he bought- cos I still have to get mine into a machine.....

    Cheap ITX System

my bay searching skills are not great, i can't seem to find lcdmodkit's perspex case. I do however, own a very tight fighting atom based perspex case which requires you to use a picopsu. not sure its the same, but to be honest, I would be worried about heat output in perspex cases, especially if...

ah! thankies; limited number to save on the bandwidth loading then :) Not all participants are loaded either- any of our new members fallen through that gap then?

FAO: Berserker Re: Hosts on Stats site

I was wondering if this feature was working- or intentionally borked- I have under my participant page 16 hosts, but when you click the link to the 16, I get only 5 , and the newer added ones that are active aren't on that page (I think I should have 7 hosts with RAC). Thanks :)

windows explorer restarting every so often

Problem solved by changing permissions on the actual pintlgb.imd file and copying a working copy from another machine. Windows explorer was still crashing though, so that wasn't the problem. executed more google-fu moves, and looks like I hadn't removed all bloatware- specifically Asus's web...

Is this machine worthy of SETI@Home?

I'd ditch the AV software if all its going to do is connect to BOINC and seti@home servers.... every little helps :p

    SETI@Home & OcUk Projects News Vol. 162 31st December - 5th january 2012

Thanks for the news Tbag, I think I managed to just get this out for this news edition: a bit quiet for me, as my computers have thrown small whirring noise hissy fits, and I haven't had time to clean/sort them out as there is a mountain of things to put away in storage taking up the...

    Asus UX31E some benchies

Well, after three days of owning this baby, thought I'd post some benchies. This is the 13.3 inch ultrabook with the i7-2677 dual core processor, 128 GB SD drive. Not sure of UK retail pricing as it seems much rarer than the UX21 that OcUK stocks; looks just over £1.1k, got mine for just under...

windows explorer restarting every so often

A bit of a random windows explorer restarting problem here. Basically a OEM laptop win7 install where I have used control panel to remove bloatware. ran sfc /scannow and from the cbs.log, this is whats wrong: 2011-12-20 17:12:26, Info CSI 00004128 [SR] Cannot repair member...

    Asus UX31 ultrabook

If you do a google, there seem to be one of two not so well known retailers; I however, just placed an order with one of the larger ones- with a christmas code too- came in at £986.80 inc VAT and delivery for the lower UX31E model (i7, 128GB hard disk supposedly). Hopefully will receive soon...
