    Platypus' Beginners Guide to Running

I'm one week into my running every day during the latest lockdown challenge. So far so good. Hope it doesn't go into March...

^ super impressive to be able to increase speed like that at the end. I'm usually massively struggling to maintain pace at that stage. I stop "feeling good" around mile 15.

Is that the R7 shakedry jacket? If so I think it's the perfect running shell. Packs down very small, totally waterproof, and slim fit. I also use it hiking and despite what gore say about not using it with a backpack, I have done so loads of times and it's still perfect.

    Hiking, backpacking, trekking, mountaineering...

We are regular Lakes visitors, but have never seen the area as busy as it currently is. The parking on and around some of the popular walks is appalling and for the first time I have seen police issuing fixed penalty fines to the worst offenders.

Visibly upset child made to run daily.

I did a similar thing with my kids. Forced them out on family bike rides and one of them in particular was very upset every time we went out. However, kids don't know what is best for them and many, given free choice, will stay at home all day, eat rubbish food, get very fat and go on to have an...

Yeah had this phone for about 2-3 weeks I guess. Uninstalled a few apps when I first received it and use Nova launcher. No ads or bloat now. Honestly I don't know what else you'd need in a phone. NFC, lightning fast, 3 day battery life, fast charging, perfectly positioned fingerprint reader...

    Platypus' Beginners Guide to Running

With London dithering about going ahead in October I've started slightly ramping up the training on the remote chance it goes ahead... First longer run in about 3 months today and kept it easy. Felt ok. Not really looking forward to 20 milers in August.

Had my Redmi note 9 pro a few days. You get a lot of phone these days for your money. No issues thus far.

Very similar yes. But I need NFC which is Pro only. Fingerprint reader on the side on Pro. £225 for Pro.

Nest Thermostat - WiFi chips dying

Cheers. Did you need to change the heat bridge thing too, it could you simply swap out the thermostat when you installed the new one? Mine was fine for nearly three years then went and I need to swap it out.

Nest Thermostat - WiFi chips dying

Is there an obvious error code displayed if the wifi chip fails? I've had one that will not detect networks anymore but wasn't sure how to check it's deffo failed. Cheers

What film did you watch last night?

Audition remains the only film I had to stop watching due to feeling properly sick. Incredible a film can do that.

The weather has been amazing. Go out early when it's still cool, go off road for the green/blue sky contrast and quiet. Perfect start to a day.

Yes if we think what the rules are intended for (social distancing) there is no reason at all why you cant go for a run from your house provided you are unlikely to run into large groups that you cannot avoid. I've cut back mileage by about 1/3 to a 1/2 since London postponed. All relaxing off...

    Platypus' Beginners Guide to Running

Just be aware that long runs (>2hrs) and really tough interval workouts lower your immune system for a short while after the run/workout. Yes, it will bounce back and be stronger in the medium term, but in the day or so afterwards you will be a little more susceptible to illness. I'm laying off...

    Platypus' Beginners Guide to Running

I'm not so sure you need to go this way for most runs. I run every day, and yet there is only one session a week I need to think about in advance and plan a little - my interval session. And after a few weeks of those I had several loaded into the watch and I'd just pick one, edit target times...

Inevitable I guess but London postponed until October. I think I'll have a couple of easy weeks rest before training again. Feeling knackered!
