HMRC Gateway: Finding the appropriate section

HMRC's website is a mess, full of links to half finished projects. 2 years on and the move to GOV.UK still isn't finished. If your accountant has used commercial software to submit your tax return (and the vast majority will to save their sanity) there is no way to print off an SA302 at the...

business relationship went sideways ltd co advice please

Did you give any personal guarantees for the 3 year premises lease? If you did that is going to make it hard to just walk away and start again (which was my first reaction when I saw how old the company was).

    MPB - anyone used before?

Was a hassle free experience when I sold an old camera body to MPB a few years ago. They arranged collection by DPD from my office on the 18th and I had been paid by the 25th (with a few update emails in between).

The hell of HMRC web site

I'm not sure why your wife had to register for self assessment in the first place, I'd have thought form R40 would have done the job. Anyway it would appear she is registered for self assessment now so it is a moot point. Assuming that the Self Assessment (SA) service within the government...

    Business Accounting Software

What does your accountant suggest? They'll have the best idea of how good your records are and what needs improving! The general rule with accounting software is rubbish in, rubbish out! While some manage to hide the underlying debits and credits rather well, if you don't understand the...

    all appliances & electronics

In basically the same situation we went with AO and had an absolute nightmare of a time with their installations. American Fridge/Freezer - Came with wrong adapter to connect the water feed. Washer dryer - Brand "new" washer dryer had had transit bolts previously removed at some unknown...

HMRC / Inland revenue - contact

A possibility is that with the multiple changes in employer your tax code went a bit out of whack and tax was underpaid as a result. Normally HMRC would have tried to collect it in 2013-14 through your tax code but if you moved around in that tax year as well it is possible it didn't catch up...

HMRC / Inland revenue - contact

Ask HMRC to send you a copy of your 2012-13 Employment History. Although not necessarily correct it will at least give you a start point (it will show start dates, leave dates, PAYE References, Gross Pay and Tax deducted based on what was filed with HMRC by your employers back then).

    What watch do you wear?

Is that resistance slipping a little? :p I know people do collect the squadron issued X-33s (because of the custom case-backs) but one's enough for me! What I really lucked out on was the amount of paperwork I got with it (complete history), and with the original owner being Swiss it went...

    What watch do you wear?

I resisted for a long time to! It is a lot of money for a quartz watch (came close to pulling the trigger on a Moonwatch instead a couple of times for that very reason) but the history and the fact this exact model is on the ISS won out and I haven't had a single regret. A little patience is...

    What watch do you wear?

There are some really nice watches in this thread! My two (thoroughly abused!) daily wearers: Yet another Omega Seamaster, just had this serviced and the pressure seals redone last year. And something a bit different, an Omega Speedmaster X-33 The Speedmaster is getting the...

Mourinho back to Chelsea? The managerial merry-go-round

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22745124 I don't know why they are even bothering to deny it at this stage!

    Switch to block websites?

Untangle might be worth a look for you. We have it running on a N40L microserver and it has proved very reliable (and combined with active directory allows a lot of user control).

Does anyone have the contact details for any of the Taylor Wimpy directors?

I assume the OP means Taylor Wimpey rather than Taylor Wimpy. I'm willing to bet that guy is going to get a nice letter from Taylor Wimpeys lawyers soon!

    Moving house - bubble wrap!

Try getting in touch with Brandwoods (I don't know what their retail prices are like, but I do accounts work for a removal company who buy their stock from there).

    Small Claims Court

Paypal chargeback has got to be your first port of call. Assuming I read the name right from your OP, the company itself is completely insolvent with total net liabilites of over £44,000 back in July last year. Sadly they have got bigger problems then a £30 MCOL.

Could people please not eat peanuts on this plane?

I just get frustrated as I remember the days when I could just walk through security with the EpiPens, request a nut free meal from the airline (and laugh when they usually served me a vegetarian meal containing nuts) and that was that. It is just so much faff now, the allergy sufferer hasn't...

Could people please not eat peanuts on this plane?

I've never requested that nuts aren't served on the plane (I'm not allergic to peanuts anyway, only tree nuts like cashews etc!). All I want is to be able to carry my EpiPens on the plane with me. Like I said earlier, I've only been asked once before by cabin crew what I wanted them to do...

Could people please not eat peanuts on this plane?

I'm one of these annoying people! Airlines have only really started making a fuss about it in the last couple of years. With the joys of security these days I've got to declare the nut allergy to get the EpiPens through security (and also to the airline so that they can be in the cabin). With...
