Power consumption and efficiency in gaming: AMD vs Intel

9 PSU's, Lord! I have always seemed to get away with either a Nightjar fanless PSU or a PICO PSU in a Streacom (in a build years ago). Mobo then I will look into next thanks.

Power consumption and efficiency in gaming: AMD vs Intel

Its for an UNRAID server/homelab so will be running docker containers - Plex, OpenVPN, Sonarr, Radarr, Nextcloud etc. This isn't my main rig. Also I will be using a Streacom fanless case so efficiency key - silence is golden! I guess I haven't got to the rest yet, as long as I meet the...

Power consumption and efficiency in gaming: AMD vs Intel

What if its running 24/7 tho. I think its pretty important tbh, however my case might be particular since I am building a fanless server so lower TDP and idle consumption are important.

Power consumption and efficiency in gaming: AMD vs Intel

I saw a spreadsheet on that forum but looked a but outdated unfortunately, but looking through the thread I do see mention of the 12100 and its idle consumption. :) Need ChatGPT to trawl the web and create a google sheet pulling it all together (multiple forums). ;)

    E-Sims for travel

Well my review is, it was (and is) good - good value, fast and worked no problems. I have used it in China, France, Thailand, Japan and Italy - 5G signal (data only of course). I suspect they didn't follow the instructions and manually create the APN... I also suspect reading those reviews...

    E-Sims for travel

Dammit, they must have just changed it as I have been using multiple times on this trip (and others in Jan). Looking at the app I can see the World Explorer 101 has 10Gb for $15.99, Europe Explorer - 10Gb for $8.99 and Asia Explorer $12.60 (all not as good obviously)

Power consumption and efficiency in gaming: AMD vs Intel

It does look somewhat suspicious. I am somewhat surprised there isn't much of a comparison at idle given the rise in NAS/personal servers these days.

Power consumption and efficiency in gaming: AMD vs Intel

Comprehensive response thanks! HWcooling testing v useful. Wow fairly big changes between Intel Core i3-14100F, i3-13100F and i3-12100F, with the 13th gen coming off far better. Will dig around some more as you say. EDIT: Pretty great idle comparisons here...

Power consumption and efficiency in gaming: AMD vs Intel

Sorry to resurrect this thread but it is pretty useful. Looking at an UNRAID setup to use a setup with decent NVME support I will need to go for a non embedded CPU + with a decent integrated iGPU. It looks like the i3-13100 or i3-14100 fit that bill + have the low idle power consumption. Is...

ITX or mATX with multi M2 slots

Funnily enough I watched that video today. It looks an absolute dream (just damn pricey). Thanks! Thanks - thats a very good point.

    E-Sims for travel

I have been travelling for a few weeks in Asia (Korea/Japan/China), if anyone is looking for a global esim I just wanted to recommend Global YO (really not that well known). They offer 10Gb's for $10, and that is a global sim. It is well worth it if you are moving about.

Best network at the moment to use.

For me Lyca Mobile is pretty great IF you can get one of their deals (IF). Based on EE, provide esims, now offer Wifi calling (where previously they couldnt), and they are very cheap. HOWEVER, customer service is very much lacking.

ITX or mATX with multi M2 slots

All really good suggestions - thank you. an iGPU and using the PCI-e for NVME's makes sense - in that case x2 slots is acceptable (x3 better of course!) I am dreaming of my perfect UNRAID/Plex server here. x4 NVME's in a fanless case with x1 3.5" drive to chron job backup the NVME's. My...

ITX or mATX with multi M2 slots

I am looking at building a new UNRAID rig since my existing one is so noisy with x4 spinning HDDs so want to make an SSD/NVME alternative but having issues finding a future proof board. Does anyone know of an ITX or mATX mobo with x4 M2 slots? Ideally not expensive (ha). Needs to cater for a...

    Powerline + server routing

Thanks Stevie, really helpful - so actually a lot simpler than I thought :) Will get all of the same gen/speed then. One more question - Do they all work with each other? eg if I buy x2 pairs will they all work together or are they supplied as a slave/master pairing? (or if they are, can they...

    Powerline + server routing

Hi, I want to improve my hone network latency, primarily for my network shares from UNRAID but also overall (a proper wired connection isnt possible without a huge amount of work). Currently I use a powerline connection from my unraid server to the router, this is pretty simple. But what I...

    Plex Server - 4K

Thanks - but that will be an expensive proposition, a new build. Can the NAS's above cope with 4k and work well?
