I've had first hand experience with both the Siggy and the Canon 55-250, The Sigma was the first lens I bought for my 400D a few years back, and the Canon is my other halfs' go to lens. The Canon beats the Sigma hands down and on a good day gives my Canon 70-200 F4 IS a run for its money.

Hi all, can anyone recommend me an external case that will accomodate a 12mm thick 2.5" SATA hard disk, all of my current cases are for the normal 9mm drives not a fat little sammy :) Not fussed about usb 3, just want a case that the blob fits in!! Thanks Tara

I use flash drives quite a lot, and every so often forget to "safely remove" one, sometimes this causes Vista to pop up the message "your drive needs to be formatted" when I use it next, my current solution to this is boot up an xp machine insert drive, DO Nothing!! remove drive, insert in Vista...

To be honest I was torn between this lens and the 70-200, but as I had a bit of a windfall I went for the big white one, the only drawback for the EF-S is of course if you move up to full frame, this little fellow can't go with you.

Not quite a door stop, but I doubt I'll ever put it back on my 400d, the canon is a far better lens. As you'd expect for the difference in price!! The sigy ain't bad for the money and when you get to know it, it produces good shots. But the L beats it hands down in all regards .

Have you considered the canon EF-S 55-250 IS?, can be had for around 170 of your squids and is getting good reviews. google " camera + price + buster" for an excelent site. I don't think it can be considered a competitor can it? That said, I chose (recently) to splurge for the 70-200 F4 IS...

My optech arrived this morning and it's miles better than the orig' one that came with my 400d, the 70-200 feels about half the weight now!!

How about a Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS, reckoned to be great value and can be had for a shade under £200 from the right places. I've got the sigma and it is a good lens, but the IS is a great feature for the not so steady of hand.
