How to set up a fall-back internet connection when the primary one fails?

As people have said above, you need a router that supports failover, a usb 3g dongle and a separate data sim. I've set this up on a Draytek previously and it works quite well but can be a bit sensitive.

    Help with ping/latency issues

Ive had issues like this previously and they said the power levels were too high and just added more attenuators to the line. I don't think some of the lower level techs really know whats going on. You might find that your cable is damaged and is intermittent, like it has a hole in the...

What is your cold remedy of choice?

You used to be able to get a product called Hactos that could cure aids. That was like tnt for your chest and a spoonful in hot water sorted you right out. Cant get it any more though, so just have to grin and bear with it. Have had a chest infection for 3 weeks now.

FBI raided the neighbour's house today

I once had a laptop in for repair that was apparently stolen from a nearby local authority. It must have been a slow day as they sent a whole van load of police. Not the FBI tho.

This is getting ridiculous (energy prices - Strictly NO referrals!)

Just out of interest, what are people paying? We have a three bed semi, gas c/h and pay £360/month electricity and £88 /month gas. We can't go on smart meters because they may interfere with the medical equipment my wife uses. (Yes wifi is not available in the same room or near it.)

    Reddit is dying

I quite literally couldn't care any less. It just serves as a warning when something is infested with left wing extremist moderators. Never been a member, never will.

    VPN on Virgin

Cheers for the reply. I tried firstly with an old 2830, then a 2762. I've been looking to install and run Sophos XG home on an old box, but this is not installing. Raspberry pi is not something I had considered, so I will look into this. Thank you.

    Family dispute incoming

What a drama! If your mum is in receptive to it, I would suggest getting a LPA. Whether this is you or a solicitor is up to you both to decide, but your mum can confidently tell your sister that its no longer her decision any more. I would also look into financial abuse by your sister. Your...

    VPN on Virgin

I have a NAS at home that I would like to access remotely, so I have set up a Vigor router as an open vpn server and have also tried setting up as ssl vpn, none of these options allow me to connect to my home network at faster speeds then 3mbps. Would I be right in saying that Virgin block or...

    Help with ping/latency issues

Ive been with Virgin for a looong time as there was no alternative until recently. My idle latency is usually around 20ms and games playing is not really a good experience. As soon as our Virgin contract is up, I will be moving.

What now for VMWare? What now for virtualisation?

Out of 500 customer, only one is left on vmware now. Everyone is either hyperv or gone Azure cloud. I cant see vmware surviving this tbh.

With the cut, there will be less overhead on retails. Do you think they will drop their prices a little?
