    Official University Thread!:D

I'd be wary before coming to York for law. It's a brand new course and it's only reputation comes from that of the university as a whole, which is almost certainly going to go down the pan in a couple of years.

Help a future student out - Criminlology

Criminology / Forensics etc is dangerously underpaid. Plus, it's one of those courses that lots of average people do at average universities so it's hard to shine. Especially when most credible universities don't offer the course.

    Good restaurant in York?

I really didn't rate the limehouse. Whilst the food was good (although pretty pricey) the place felt a bit cheap. The waiting on staff weren't that good either. Blue bicylce though, that's good. Even better when there's a 'FOIE GRAS IS EVIL' protest on outside.

    Anybody been to Tokyo?

I've been. It's very good. Do these things: Go to the womb Go to the electronic district Go to an onsen Eat Fugu Get a train up to Nikko and look around Go to shibuya crossing Don't go into any of the department stores, tokyu hands and the like. Don't think I've been as annoyed as I was in...

Show us your favourite holiday destination! [pics]

Make sure you've got a lot of disposable cash too. I had to pay over 750 notes out for 'forgotten stamps', 'void tickets' and to avoid finding out 'how large siberia really is'. Russians, lovely folk. Brilliant journey, but the constant swindling took the edge off a tad.

    Need Uni Advice..

If you've already got a qualification in it you should try and find work and move your way up the ladder. There are enough people around with generic media degrees from tinpot universities, you shouldn't become another one.

Anyone going the Warehouse Project tonight?

yeah, a couple of times. it's better than it was last year or when it was at boddingtons but it's still pretty poor compared to a proper nightclub. I saw squarepusher at wire in leeds a year or so ago, couldnt imagine him sounding good without a system as good as what they have there.

Anyone going the Warehouse Project tonight?

Not sure if 'pusher will sound too good in there, the sound really isnt that great and one thing that he needs is good sound quality to let his music unfold. Still an incredible line up though.

Ben : Diary of a Heroin Addict

Don't be utterly ridiculous, you have no idea what drove him to this, what his circumstance are or anything. Even if he only took it casually (which believe it or not is possible) addiction may have crept up on him. Trying something new is not a stupid thing to do, some of the 'finest minds' in...

Looking for advice on going to university as a mature student

Maybe not oxbridge but somewhere with credibility. Not just credibility for a single subject either, the university needs to be good as a whole. "I graduated from york / durham" sounds much better than "I graduated from plymouth, no, really, the xxx department there is really good, it is"...
