    New Family Wagon

First Porsche dealership experience, in for a gear selector recall. Got a Macan as a courtesy car, which was nice enough, base model, decent kit but lacking in grunt and a bit small for us. They did a full vehicle check and they only thing they could find wrong with it was the sticky pad on the...

    New Family Wagon

Just reached 2 years ownership, covering 20k. I've had a knocking noise from the transmission for a month or two which was caused by a failing prop shaft, this is very common on both the Cayenne and the Touareg. Fortunately a few more suppliers have popped up in recent years, reducing the...

    New Family Wagon

That's when driven pretty sedately, on a spirited drive (which very rarely happens) I think you'd see less than 10mpg.

    New Family Wagon

Another update, another year on. Over the last year, other than fuel (lots of it, still averaging 15.6mpg) the only costs save for an MOT (sailed through apart from a bulb) has been to change the brakes. I was getting a wear sensor light coming on so changed the discs and pads, it may have been...

    Show us your garage!

A 2 poster lift is going in there shortly. The tiles I agonised over, the darker ones which would have looked cleaner would have also made it feel darker in there, a quick wipe with a mop will be fine, although I did buy a floor polisher which you may be able to spot in the photos.

My car is finally back in there!

They seem to work well, the garage is so bright with the main lights on that it's difficult to tell their impact, but every little helps. They were £150 for 4 of them with drivers.

    Show us your garage!

I'm just about to start tiling the floor in mine. I've built it all myself over the last 2 years, other than the blockwork which someone else did. It's 11m x 5m, with a soon to be electrically operating retracting staircase to the first floor, lots of power, lots of light, hot water and a 2...

Is this the future of sportscar "ownership"

It's absolutely the ownership model going forwards and I can see it being the norm. It gives flexibility, entirely predictable costs, you will never need to: - Buy a car - Sell a car - Take out breakdown cover - Arrange insurance - Arrange Tax - Arrange MOTs - Arrange servicing - Arrange any...

Lamborghini Urus; Likey or No Likey?

I think it looks pretty good first attempt from them and yes I would consider one for a family car once the depreciation has done its work. Even if I were buying new in that class it would be a contender.

    New Family Wagon

Further update for continuity, I was still experiencing a bang through the transmission on downshifts from 6th to 5th. I spoke to the sellers and they said try driving it in tiptronic mode only to see whether that made any difference. It was then apparent the manual side of the box would only...

    New Family Wagon

It ran out today! The advice from the specialist that is doing the work (PIE Performance) is that in their view most of the warranties available aren't worth the paper they're written on anyway and you're better off just putting the money to one side, or in my case, crossing my fingers! It is...

    New Family Wagon

The car is finally back after a slightly extended stay, it turned out there was a split in one of the servo hoses in a difficult to reach spot which caused the servo to burn out. It's all sorted after several more hours and a £1.2k bill which was picked up by the supplying garage.

    New Family Wagon

No, a local specialist is doing the work and the supplying dealer is covering the cost, as they are so far away from me it's not practical to take the car back.

    New Family Wagon

Just by way of an update I took it to an independent Porsche specialist as I had a brake servo error and also to get them to take a good look over the car to see if there was anything else amiss. They cleared the fault code for the brake servo error, but it reappeared and they are replacing the...

    Cost for a brick garage?

£15k is far more realistic, there's £7k of materials in there alone.

    High Mileage E60 530D?

About £900 of the £1.8k they spent on it was before I even picked the car up and the rest was within a few days of owning it, for which the dealer picked up the tab. I replaced two airbags at a cost of about £40, a few bulbs and had a suspension spring crack when my wife hit a pothole. Oh and...

    High Mileage E60 530D?

Just to close this off, sold this "off market" for £2.5k after owning it for a year, no faults of any great significance during ownership.
