A blast from the past! I have an old HD5870 in my wife's pc which has this venerable board in it now. Never had an issue with it really. It had a 4870 previous to that... Realistically the board should take any PCI-E card but it is only ver. 1.0 so the fastest cards would be a little hamstrung...

Did you do anything before these errors (change bios etc) started or was it just a fault that occurred on it's own? The fact that it's not even posting sounds serious though. I'd start by rebuilding it out of the case. Just cpu, memory. gfx. Nothing else and see if it posts.

I've no probs with it either, and I regularly plug out cables to pull out the case and plug back in again, often using a different port, never a problem. Good luck sorting it out, good news is that ethernet cards are cheap :/

The 4870 will draw a lot more power than the 8800GT, this could be putting a little more stress on your power supply, which may be giving out slightly less power than necessary, it doesn't take much to cause a glitch... The 4870 also is just a little bit "buggy" or at least the cat drivers...

Have you disabled the "allow windows to turn off this device to save power" option? Dunno if it makes any difference but worth a try...

If you disable the JMicron controller you will lose the IDE drive... it is controlled by the JMicron controller. The only solution is to get a sata optical drive... you will also lose the eSata port.

New BIOS released for this board Bios 16, ftp://ftp.abitshop.com/pub/bios/ip35pro/m629b16.zip. Not tried it yet myself but I have been using the beta of this... gonna flash it tonight and see if it fixes any temperature reporting issues, but I don't hold out much hope tbh...

I just discovered something interesting... After resume from hibernation the die temperature sensor "disappears" from the list in everest. The two core temperature readings are still available though, and the readings are consistent. Probably the reason that uGuru stops reporting it ;)

Everest reports the temperatures fine too. That's why I think it's just a uGuru problem. I also have the uGuru clock from an older motherboard that works with th IP-35 uGuru motherboard header and this also reports 0C so it's not just the windows interface that's borked, it's the actual code in...

I have a similar problem. Everything is fine when I do a "proper" restart but if I suspend or go into hibernation I get the opposite problem, reported temperature is 0C. I have to set my minimum fan speed high to make sure that I don't do damage due to low reported temps. I'm using the latest...

Think you're right, PC5300 ram is rated to 667Mhz, you're running it over 100Mhz faster than that, get some faster ram if the extra 0.1GHz is important to you :D

The default speed for the fans in EQ control is between 8 and 12V. I presumed that if you disabled fanEQ the fan ran at 12V but maybe not... It is possible that your fan is not able to start at 8V and is stalling. Would be odd though as I think all my fans spin up to full speed on startup and...

The bios is usually downloaded as a zip or rar archive. There are 5 files in the archive, copy all of these onto the usb key. Beta bios files are slightly different as they are shipped as just the single bios file and have to be renamed. If you can't do this you shouldn't be messing with a beta...
