Thanks for the advice. I'll remember the kitchen roll idea for the future. However, it seems this noise has now disappeared completely. I'm assuming it was just a burning in phenomenon and the heat pads or what ever have finally equilibrated.

Thanks. I've stuck my head into the case as best I can to try and locate the source of the noise. As far as I can tell it's coming from the VRM region, but I admit it's hard to tell. Interestingly it's becoming less pronounced as time goes on. I wonder if it's just a sort of "burn in" effect...
