    Lens Protection

Maybe if I was buying from a camera shop but £20 will usually get a decent Hoya on the bay. Also I'd love to know where I can pick up a 150mm Macro AF-S F2.8 for £100 :) But point taken a cheap filter will spoil a good lens. D.

    Lens Protection

First thing I do with any new lens is stick a UV filter on it. I'd rather scratch a £20 filter than a £450 lens. Still to do some real shots with my Cp, ND or IR filters but they seem very cool. D.

    300 smackers, DSLR for beginner...

I have a D40X which I'm thinking about selling. It's about a year old and has been a great starting camera. The only reason I'm going to sell it is I've upgraded. Comes fully boxed with all original packaging and the 18-55 kit lens (non-vr). Would also include an extra two batteries, so three in...

Someone spec me a cheap DSLR

You could possibly pick up a second hand Nikon D40 for around £150.00 if you're lucky. Great camera for the price point.

    Where to start..

I would warn you it's horribly addictive though :) I decided to give it a try in December and bought the Nikon D40x with kit lens (18-55mm), very quickly bought a basic zoom (55-200mm) then some macro lenses, then a x2 multiplier, then a 70-300mm VR, then a 18-200mm VR.... Now I'm seeking...

    *%$*£ Banks

Change banks. It's as simple as that. Any bank not providing the service you expect just change. There are a number out there now that only have uk call centers for example. If you owe them loads of cash it might be a bit different though.. D.

    The random Text Game

Stay well clear, don't reply just delete the number and message. Its likely to be a phishing exercise and the number could well be a premium rate one. Unless you want you phone to be used calling Nigeria that is? Rgds D.

    How is famous grouse?

Ardbeg is a great distillery, but it's produce are some of the most peaty you'll come accross. Lagavulin falls into the same catagory, big flavour, lots of peat, seaweed, iodine and medicine-like phenols. Not whiskys for the faint hearted though.... The Balvenie Double Wood is very...

Apparently I've just won a holiday... (scam?)

It sounds like a time share scam but it just might be genuine if your GF did enter a competion at the fair, you need to check with her. I'd be worried about the administration charge, tbh, that has scam written all over it. If theyr'e really giving away a £1000 holiday then they ain't going to...
