What retro things have you done today?

I used to have a BFG 8800GTS, bought around the time I built a Q6600-based system in 2007. Great card, was very happy with it. Typically though it died a few days after BFG went bust!

I can see why that didn't get bid up very high, no images of the actual box contents! Always wary of listings like that, hopefully fine though.

    Whats your favourite PSOne JRPG

Don't think I could pick a favourite but Chrono Cross is excellent.

Sega Saturn - what’s the best option?

A lot of them have yellowed over time unfortunately. I bought a earlier grey model as the discolouration is less obvious compared to the later white variant. Another benefit in hindsight is that it's compatible with the cheaper Fenrir ODE if I decide to get one eventually.

Sega Saturn - what’s the best option?

Looks neat :) If you decide you don't want to take it apart you could consider the Satiator when it's available, an alternative that plugs into the expansion/video cd slot on the back. Last I read it's patreon supporters getting first chance to order, but soon open to the public.

Sega Saturn - what’s the best option?

Panzer Dragoon 1 & 2 are great games, particularly the sequel. I don't have any of the Sonic games for Saturn, but if I did it'd probably just be the Sonic Jam compilation. I'd also recommend Dynamite Deka (aka Die Hard Arcade in PAL land), good laugh that.

Sega Saturn - what’s the best option?

Sega Rally 2 on Dreamcast is decent enough, but the original on Saturn is brilliant and worth getting. Aside from 2D fighters, are there any particular genres you like/don't like?

Sega Saturn - what’s the best option?

Japanese model is the route I went down also, 60Hz and cheaper game prices for a lot of stuff (plus far more titles were released in that region of course). Did have a PAL Saturn back in the late 90s but couldn't face the prospect of poorly PAL-optimised games again, although to be fair there...

What retro things have you done today?

@Armageus Erk. I was listing some items last night on eBay, and because I hadn't received a reply from you by that time I figured I'd stick the adapter up also. Checked this morning, sold already, so packed it up and posted it whilst I was out earlier today. Didn't realise it was you that bought...

What retro things have you done today?

If you decide to go the Celeron route I have a slotket adapter that I don't need (came with a Celeron 500MHz chip that I was after). Let me know and I can post it your way, if not then no worries.

What retro things have you done today?

There's a possibility you've got a duff one then, although I guess you'd need to try it on another board to know for sure. I have a spare Dynamode-branded adapter if you want that posted your way.

What retro things have you done today?

Strange. I have the same adapter and it works fine for me, and that's on a Intel 440 chipset like yours is. Are the tiny jumper switches set correctly on the adapter itself?

Does the Xtreme refer to a higher-clocked standard 6800? Or an Ultra?

What retro things have you done today?

@vanpeebles That's awesome :) It's a replica case for the original hardware I assume? Been many years since I had one but still remember it fondly. @paradigm That Q2 score doesn't seem right? Unless the renderer is really that bad...

It's a 16MB card I'm guessing? Can't argue for the price you paid. Can be surprisingly tricky to find a TNT2 that isn't an M64!

I have very little experience with DOS but see here for reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC%2797

What retro things have you done today?

@LewisRaz You'll probably find you can get it working if you download the generic VIA AC97 driver from VIA's website. The Sigmatel chip is just a basic codec, I have a SIS-based board that uses the same chip and SIS's own audio driver works fine. Personally once I'd confirmed it was working I...

What retro things have you done today?

@LewisRaz There's a small chip next to the first PCI slot surrounded by caps - I can't zoom your image but that's probably the audio chip.

Bought that kit many years back, although mine wasn't blue so perhaps slightly different in which cards it supported. Used it on a Gainward FX5600 that had developed a noisy fan. Effective, but I found it an absolute pain to fit!

What retro things have you done today?

Ah right, best of luck! I decided a while back I'd not venture beyond a V2 or V3 due to the sums of money involved, but if you can get it working then that's not too bad a price in the scheme of things.
