Intel Core Ultra 'Arrow Lake' Discussion/News ("15th gen") on LGA-1851

Mostly LGA1700 are reinforced with a metal back plate, that's not the issue. It's just not flat enough, causing temperature hotspots and of course the bending issues we're seen on some boards.

Intel Core Ultra 'Arrow Lake' Discussion/News ("15th gen") on LGA-1851

LGA1700 was a pretty terrible socket to be fair. Having to use contact frames to get decent temperatures is just pure fail. LGA-1851 doesn't bode well as it's even larger!

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU Burns Up

Holy Necro! Best starting your own thread for this IMO! XMP/EXPO voltage settings are completely fine unless you're manually tuning your memory overclock.

    AMD Zen 5 rumours

Big spikes below 60FPS, making choppy and to me, unplayable. Good news is CPU's with more than 8 cores are cheap, so no reason to cripple yourself with one :)

    AMD Zen 5 rumours

I'm between 80-100 FPS in Cyberpunk @ 4k, RT max, obviously with DLSS enabled. That's with a 4090 Strix, 7950x3d and 13900k. It runs better on my 13900k, though that's one of the very few games that Intel wins at, the rest AMD is superior. As for areas, Tom's Diner is a good example, try...

    AMD Zen 5 rumours

There are some games, example Cyberpunk, that are hard to drive @ 4k with RT on max. Literally destroys 8 core CPU's in some areas.

Intel Core Ultra 'Arrow Lake' Discussion/News ("15th gen") on LGA-1851

Think you need to chill out, I'm not on trial here, you make it sound like I am :D Personally, I enjoy the feeling of upgrading my boot SSD to one with greater overall performance. Last upgrade I did was from a 980Pro to a 990Pro (both Gen4 drives). There was a small, but noticeable difference...

Intel Core Ultra 'Arrow Lake' Discussion/News ("15th gen") on LGA-1851

There are no "proper" Gen5 SSD's out (by proper I mean a Samsung Pro version) - so we don't yet know. I'd expect higher IOPS and higher transfer speeds at various queue depths. 990 Pro (Gen4) still has ~36MB/s random read, for single threaded tasks. This is often the bottleneck in windows...

Intel Core Ultra 'Arrow Lake' Discussion/News ("15th gen") on LGA-1851

Intel need more pins to achieve parity with AMD, as in being able to use 16x PCI-Ev5 lanes for GPU and 4x lanes for a gen5 SSD. That said, Samsung (the market leader) seem to wait for Intel to be ready before they release a Pro series gen5 SSD, one that's actually faster than the 990 Pro gen4...

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

Are you suggesting that you're the only human in existence that doesn't lose hearing frequency each year? No wrinkles or nostril hair either I assume? What's your secret!
  13. Dave2150

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

You've obviously gotten older since 2019 (2070 super release year)- so it's likely you just can't hear the high frequencies any longer. One of the advantages of aging  I still find water cooling pumps annoying - will be lovely when it's the same noise as a Noctua cooler to my ears :D

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

What other GPU's are you comparing it to? Higher the power draw of the GPU means louder coilwhine.
  15. Dave2150

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

This 100%. Many special people say "no coil whine" - but have a card that screams like a pig to someone with some hearing left. Either that, or they're using a 4090 @ 1080P with Windows 7, on a 60hz monitor (there are people in this scenario on this forum) - where GPU utilisation doesn't get...

Intel Application Optimizer (APO) now working on 12th and 13th gen CPUs

I'm clearly being bainted/trolled here. Windows 7 does not give superior performance with a 7950x3d/i9 Raptor Lake, Windows 11 does. Will leave to mods and will not debate further.

Intel Application Optimizer (APO) now working on 12th and 13th gen CPUs

I wouldn't put much thought into it. There are still special people running Windows 7 barebone for "Internet and gaming", claiming it's faster and superior to W10, W11 etc. Fact of the matter is, for maximum performance with current gen CPU's/GPU's, you need Windows 11. Anything else means...

Intel Application Optimizer (APO) now working on 12th and 13th gen CPUs

Pity windows 10 has lower performance than windows 11, especially if using a current gen CPU.

    4K Gaming - Ideal CPU / Platform

Definitely not a 8 core CPU. 13700k, 14700k, Ryzen 7900 and above IMO.
