EVGA 1080 Hybrid FTW Slave BIOS

Hi, I've been out of the game for a while so I apologise if this has been asked before. I've just upgraded to an EVGA 1080 FTW Hybrid and wanted to check everything was working well. Reading online suggests the Slave BIOS has a slightly higher power limit (130%) and different BIOS number...

    Trouble with SLI

Hi, I'm not sure that this will be of much help I'm afraid, but I have had a similar experience with a pair of 768MB 460s. Like you, I tried all sorts to get SLI to enable but it would not. In my case, it seemed to be caused by the fact that the cards were not being reported as being the same...

    Good Vcore on sandybridge?

In the OP, why does the RealTemp screen show clock modulation at 75%?

    sapphire coil whine

Are you sure it isn't the power supply? Graphics cards can use power in an irregular way that can cause power supplies to whine as well.

Do you always run your GPU/'s overclocked?

^ this With GPU Boost adjusting voltage across the whole range (GTX 780), it actually undervolts the card when full power is not needed and stock clocks are in being used in place of boosted clock speed.

Would a single GTX 780 roughly equal two GTX 580 in SLI ?

I can't say about higher resolutions but at 1080 my two stock-clocked 3GB 580's in SLI were about 5% faster than my 780 at stock speed. I tested: Crysis 3, Max Payne 3, Lost Planet 2, Metro 2033 (benchmark) and Heaven 4.0 (benchmark). My 580's didn't overclock well (too much heat / noise for...

    Asus 580 Coil Whine

Depends how loud it is... I had to send my first AX850 back due to a very loud whine that occured right at medium load. OK at idle and at full bench stress, but at gaming load would whistle so loud I could hear it from outside the room! The replacement is completely silent.

    GTX 780 Owners Club

Do any of the earlier drivers support the 780? I must admit I installed the 320.18's before reading about any problems and haven't noticed anything bad with the new 780. Admittedly I didn't run them on the 580's.

    Unigine Heaven 4 benchmark

GTX 780 at 1189 / 1772 with 2700k at 4.6GHz. My 780 seems to run a little warmer than some I've seen... but in day to day clocks (around 1100 / 1650) and running VSync with FPS limiter as I do it is pretty quiet. Much better than the GTX 580s in SLI that it replaces! At stock, the 780...

Business laptop Lenovo T430 or Dell Precision M4700

In case anyone wondered, I got to try a 130W charger with my M4700 today. I was a little surprised to find that it worked the same way as the 90W charger... that is to say, not so well. The battery charge rate was limited to 2.8W and the CPU speed was limited (modulated) to 900MHz. Shame...

Anyone own a Dell Precision M4700?

Does it have to be the GPU-Z benchmark or does your system do it with any 3D program? GPU-Z tells me I don't have the D3D version required when I try the Render Test. If I run Heaven in a window instead and watch the GPU speed in GPU-Z, I get an immediate drop from 745MHz on mains to 465MHz on...

Anyone own a Dell Precision M4700?

Indeed... what is more annoying is that in a colleague's M6600 (previous gen) the slice powers it at full speed (yet isn't even listed as a compatible battery for the M6600). My standard battery powers my laptop at full speed (not a Windows software issue unless there's some Dell stuff behind...

Anyone own a Dell Precision M4700?

Yes, sorry, I should have said that I posted on the NBR forum. I'm just a little concerned about a mainboard swap so wanted to see if anyone had any information. I'm certain it isn't software related... I've checked all Windows settings and, as I say, the standard battery runs perfectly...

Anyone own a Dell Precision M4700?

Hi, I am looking for anyone who owns a Dell Precision M4700 and either owns the slice battery or wouldn't mind meeting up so that I could try my slice battery in their machine (in which case please let me know and we can see if we live close enough). Basically, I am having an issue with...

Business laptop Lenovo T430 or Dell Precision M4700

I own a M4700 and really like it. I had a Precision M65 before this and liked the Dell workstation build quality. I have to admit that it is a little heavier than I would like... it weighs a little more than the M65 which was already as heavy as I like. The M4700 with 87Whr Long Life Cycle...

    Screen tearing

Do you have another monitor plugged into the PC at the same time? If so, what is the setup? I ask because I get screen tearing like that when running my laptop cloned onto an external display with lower native resolution. The laptop screen lowers to match the external display, but for some...

560 ti sli poor performance with 3d enabled

Thanks Greg. I do wonder from your results whether some of these games were CPU limited in strict 2D mode. Max Payne 3 seems to be CPU limited for me... and I wouldn't call a 2700k @ 4.6 particularly slow! This is with a pair of GTX 580's (stock) running a 1080p screen, so I would guess that the...

560 ti sli poor performance with 3d enabled

Using Ctrl-T does not fully switch off 3D... it seems to just bring the two eyes back together, if you will. There is still a lot of processing going on behind the scenes. Do as Greg says and set yourself up two shortcuts to the Enable / Disable 3D Vision (from the nVidia folder in the start...

Does using 3D Vision affect FPS?

whyscotty, when you say you lose approx. 40%, can you clarify please? Do you mean on top of the halving you get from having to display two images per frame? For example, if your FPS without 3D Vision was 100, are you saying you would get 50 less 40% equals 30 per eye (60 frames per second...
