    Replacement £1,000 build

Cheers for the feedback guys, I probably won't go crossfire (heat & noise) but the rest looks good.

    Replacement £1,000 build

So my (mostly) 3 year old system decided to completely die on me this afternoon. I had been planning to build a new Windows 7, SSD PC sometime early next year, but this has pushed things forward a little :D The problem is I haven't had my usual months of indecision before buying a PC, so...

I've been playing BD and HDDVD perfectly fine through mine so I assume it must be.

    SLI GTXs on 700w

I already have one EVGA 8800 GTX KO ACS3 card and I'm thinking of getting another for SLI. I think that my Seasonic M12 700W would handle it just about, but I'd like a second opinion if anyone would care to offer one :D Rest of the system: EVGA 680i Q6600 4GB Crucial PC8500 Raptor...

Driver stopped responding / BSOD crashes

I had a system running perfectly for 6 months then I started getting the exact same error. There are many, many people getting this error with Vista drivers, see the thread below: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=43407 For me I believe it was a hardware issue as I had the the...

Whats the best PSU for under £100?

I ordered a Seasonic M12 as the replacement for my Corsair HX.

Whats the best PSU for under £100?

I recently had to return my Corsair HX620, I got a refund (it's gone up in price since 8 months ago) and I don't really want to get the same again. Having said that, is there anything better for under £100?

Could you link me to the post, I had a look but I can't find it.

    RAID 5 for video capture

So if I had a decent mobo with IHC9R I could achieve atleast a minimum of 80mb/s in RAID5? I'm thinking of grabbing 4 of these while they are on offer.

    Going from 2gb to 4gb

I've been running 4gb with Vista 64bit and found that my RAM (Ballistix 8500 C5) has been getting very hot being bunched so close together with Raptors on one side, an E6850 on the other and an 8800GTX below. One of the sticks failed recently so I ordered a pair of dominator ram coolers that...

    RAID 5 for video capture

That's what I was thinking of to begin with so I reckon I'll go with that.

    RAID 5 for video capture

I'm looking to build a system for capturing HD footage. For uncompressed 1280x720 footage at 30fps it requires a steady 80mb/s. RAID 5 with 4 drives has been suggested to me, I personally would have thought that RAID 0 would provide faster write speed. I was just wondering what controllers...

    Capturing 360/PS3 footage

Okay, now I'm looking at speccing an entire PC for capturing and converting HD footage. What would write-performance be like with 4 drives RAID 5 and does anyone have any specific drives/raid controllers they would recommend? Most of the footage will probably be converted into h264, could...

    Capturing 360/PS3 footage

An HDMI switch box is quite pricey, it's cheaper to get a component switch and a PS3 component cable. Quality wise there's not much difference in my experience.

    Capturing 360/PS3 footage

I'm gonna be getting a couple of these for RAID 0: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-120-WD&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=940 Any thoughts?

    Capturing 360/PS3 footage

There's going to be a some delay on the screen when capturing, I'm not sure how playable it will be. I'm looking at just getting a Component splitter like this: http://www.cyberselect.co.uk/product/803 along with a PS3 component cable as it will be cheaper than getting an HDMI splitter and...

    Capturing 360/PS3 footage

Okay, cheers. The other thing I'm going to need is a Component/HDMI splitter so I can capture on one screen and play on the other.
