    Mortgage Rate Rises

I fixed for 5 years in 2016 at 2.5% and was very happy with that because even then we were thinking it was more likely to go up and than down, and secondly and very importantly it was already very low so there was a much bigger downside than up to short or no fix. I didn't have any special...

    Biennial MOT tests

I suspect it may be evidence if there was an accident though of knowledge of it being unroadworthy

What % of household take home do you guys throw at vehicles?

Until recently: £500 annual depreciation on originally £4150 cash putchase And about £1000 covered service, mot, maintenance, insurance and Ved. So not a lot. Have recently bought a new used car at £16k. Plan on keeping it for a long time. Am hoping it pans out at under 3% including depreciation.

    Roof bars

I had cruz atera fix from roofbox. Fitting was okay, a little bit fiddly just because there's a decent number of steps to go through in fitting the feet to the hidden bolt holes on an old astra then the bars to the feet, and the locks, the covers, and the rubber strips. But they did the job...

    WBAC Values

I bought from a small dealer and there was VAT on it too - so keep in mind that £3k might include a bunch of tax that is paid gross not on profit.

    Power to Mick Lynch

So the article itself makes some of this clear ish. The mostly management grades submitted 2000 network rail voluntary severance applications The current strikes are not by the management grades and they are asking for no compulsory redundancies and to be able to do voluntary only. That...

    Power to Mick Lynch

Some examples... Automated driving of trains is in place, but the drivers are still in charge of opening and closing doors there and of pressing a button to start the train to the next station. This is presumably for safety reasons - to have a person eyeballing, sometimes with help from...

    Is this Cat6 cable external?

Telephone cable is approx CAT3 isn't it? Almost all CATx cable is backwards compatible anyway. Why bother installing lower grade cabling if you can install something for the same price that is better, fully compatible and could be future proofed if things change significantly. Also, I'm...

    New House - CAT6a or CAT7?

FYI cat7 isn't necessarily going to be certified as a real networking standard (ever). I've read some articles that it may be leapfrogged for some kind of cat8. Cat6 is what I'd plan for.

    first house :) mortgages etc

FYI - most of the time the 10% is measured against either the starting mortgage sum or the outstanding mortgage at the beginning of the year. Or, in other words, more than most people have to spare (check your paperwork and don't just assume).
