Need 2.1 Speakers to connect to a digital optical out

Guys, Anyone know of any 2.1 speakers that will take a digital optical in? Or maybe a small in-line dac so I can use analog speakers? I need some 2.1 speakers for my TV, don't want to use the analog port as it's on the side of the TV, and I don't want to have to have a separate amp to...

Advice on cool & quiet case / system

Advice on cool & quiet case / system

Yeah it will be mainly a file server and pdc running linux, mythtv will be running so it will be recording and encoding tv shows, but it doesn't have to encode them quickly so having a super fast super hot cpu is not necessary. That AMD looks good, dual core 64bit, and if it's only around 45w...

I definitely might have to invest in a newer CPU then. Anyone have any thoughts on how AMD's compare with the Intel's these days?

Advice on cool & quiet case / system

Good suggestion that I hadn't thought of. Especially as my PC is a P182! I shall have to turn off all the other devices in my study and see how quiet it is! Sythe fans eh? Not heard of them before, thanks

Advice on cool & quiet case / system

2x 160 in RAID 0 for the system, then 4x 500Gb in RAID 5 for storage (so less than 1.5Tb in total). Movies, music, backups.

Advice on cool & quiet case / system

Guys, I need some help. Due to a need to re-arrange I have to build a new PC to be my home server. The 'server' will sit in the corner of my dining room under a table so there is a need to it to be a quiet as possible (the sound of a 747 in the corner does not make for a pleasant dining...

    Shuttle SP5P2 Pro Problems

I was concerned that might be the case, I notice a few posts on other sites where people have had to reset the cmos on nearly every boot. I've had SFF machines before but this is my first shuttle ... not a good start. So you replaced yours and the second one is ok? I want to have a SFF...

    Shuttle SP5P2 Pro Problems

Hi, I've just bought a new system that I'm having issues with, and before I return the SP35P2 I want to make sure the right part is at fault. When the issues started the system would turn on but not boot (blank screen), taking out one of the RAM sticks helped so I assumed at first that it...

sweet, that sounds like exactly what I need. I'll go look it up now. update Hmm, certainly good as I can use the uGuru motherboards with my current hardware just what I need right now; I can't seem to see any of the newer motherboards with it though.

    Motherboard with External Sensor Output

Can anyone recommend a motherboard manufacturer that makes boards with the ability to hook up external readers for the sensors (fan, heat, etc)? I know I could probably do this via USB, but that would be only once software is loaded, I'm looking for a way to read these sensors on an external...

    Shuttle SS51G Motherboard Power

I decided to bite the bullet and just plug a connector to it after chopping of one of the cables, worked fine. Ordered a new PSU and the newer PSU's from shuttle have all for cables on all molexes anyway. All that worry for nothing. doh.
