The SSD is set to AHCI, all drives are. I can do a fresh install but not until the weekend ☹️

I’ve also now tried to do the repair install, that failed. Just not making any sense.

Just tried booting with the m.2 and reconnecting the SSD and windows couldn’t see the SSD at all. will try connecting up to other PC and redo the partition and format to a different file system later (family around). Hopefully that will fix it, but it just doesn’t seem right.

I’m trying with the repair but need a USB the issue is I can’t run the repair with the SSD attached. Just annoying as it seems fine on the other system. There must be some sort of conflict going but can’t find it.

Ahh yeah, RAM was in too, forgot to mention that :p I didn't try outside the case, but can't see anything that may be causing a short. So as I'm buying a new MB and CPU any suggestions? Plan to continue using the existing memory and graphics card.

Yeah, and even taking it down to very basics of no HDD at all, just Graphics, MB and CPU it won't post all way in to bios.

Ok, update. I have tested a working PSU and replaced the memory with a known working module. Unfortunately the problem persists I am currently resetting bios through battery removal to see if that works, if that fails I am unsure where to progress. Think this may be an unplanned MB and CPU...

Have 2 SSDs. Not a new system as it was running fine before crash. Unable to load in to bios as restarts prior to that point, get a blue bios load screen and no text/pictures and then reboot before I can enter the bios. Will swap PSU and ram over and try that now *fingers scrosswe*

I did try resetting the CMOS yes. The alternative PSU is an OCZ 850w, so similar to what I have been running. Will be trying the alternative again tomorrow to make sure I didn't miss a cable or something stupid

How do you force it to switch to second bios? This is my first mb with a second bios.

It also seems to like to restart several times with the single ssd in to allow me to boot. Also noticed that it can take 60 seconds or so for the keyboard to get power during the bios boot. The more i look at this the more i think i will be RMA'ing it :(

As you say if it ain't broke don't fix it. Only reason to upgrade bios is for compatibility or stability problems. If you don't have those then leave be :)
