UK Spouse Visas - Does our government hate us and want to punish us

Yeah I'm not the best at writing amd it was late, we knew all this before but I just wanted to highlight it to others who may think of doing the same thing. A few reasons: I don't speak Japanese fluently As a family, we can earn more money here and be better off, Japanese wages are quite low...

UK Spouse Visas - Does our government hate us and want to punish us

I disagree, the provision of services to citizens and their families should not be something the government profits from. Comparing the fees from other countries it seems the UK stands out from almost all other developed nations by charging high fees for family visas. The UK has been openly...

UK Spouse Visas - Does our government hate us and want to punish us

I’d say the US is an outlier in terms of healthcare, a better comparison would be a western European country with a social healthcare system. What are you comparing reasonable to? It seems that most other countries can provide the a similar visa application service for a fraction of the price...

UK Spouse Visas - Does our government hate us and want to punish us

I married my partner of two and a half years this year which was a massive high point in my life. As she is Japanese we're now in the process of applying for a UK spouse visa for her and her two girls to move here. I was hoping that as she's from a rich developed G7 nation, she'd have it easy...

Being Diagnosed with ADHD (not medical thread)

I went through Psychiatry-UK and they orchestrated it through my GP. It was pretty straightforward and when diagnosed then transferred my care over to my regular GP. You can see the complete process on their website, though I think the waiting list is even longer then when I did it.

Images of items I have purchased (except trainers)

It was about £40 a bottle. This is the first time I’ve bought any in quite a while so not sure if it was more before

Yeah definitely, my wife loves gyudon and curry rice so we'll probably go there at some point. My in-laws are taking us out for unagi too which I'm most excited about! Some presents for the trip so I'm not just waffling on and not posting stuff I've bought :p

My flight is next Wednesday evening and I'll be back in early July! I'm not looking forward to the summer but thankfully I'm going to be in Tohoku and leaving before the weather gets too unbearable.

No, just to see family (in-laws). Japan has canceled all visa waivers for all countries, you can only get in if you are a citizen, hold a residence permit, are a spouse of a citizen, are a student or are on business. It looks like they'll be reinstating some level of travel "in line with other...

Being Diagnosed with ADHD (not medical thread)

I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 40. It explained a lot! In some way I'm better off than some as I'm twice-exceptional and am pretty intelligent. I breezed through primary school and secondary school without paying much attention and was always a bit of a daydreamer. When self-study...

    Neighbour died suddenly

My brother passed away at 39 from SADS in October, it's crazy as he'd run the London marathon a couple of weeks before, he was supremely fit and had an Ironman and Everest Mountain Marathon under his belt in the last few years too. As you can imagine it's left a massive hole in my life, he was...

    Anyone worked in The Shard?

I worked for a company there as a consultant for a few months. The best thing I can remember was that you got a discount card for restaurants and the observation deck, I think maybe it was 25% but I never ended up using it  I also remember that the blinds were controlled centrally by the...

I showed this to my fiancee, she's Japanese and has no idea what it says, so it's definitely Chinese

Amp in lounge... Amp in kitchen... can I link the two?

You could get some of those RCA > Ethernet adapters, the signal is then sent over ethernet cable, the twisted pairs and shielding (if you use a shielded cable) will maintain the signal and reject interference over a longer distance than RCA. I've never used any but the reviews look ok on the...

    **The Mental Health Thread**

So, I'm in my 2nd week of titration for Elvanse. The first couple of days were a bit strange. On day 1 I was so excited when the effect kicked in and I was able to concentrate that I was getting up and walking about to calm myself down, day two was better as it wasn't so new but I had a bit of...
