    Motherboard blown

Well my PSU has gone and fried my mobo. Its was an Asus P5K ws pro. It needs replacing, I want to upgrade the mobo to something better keeping the rest of the components the same. If I stick with Asus will I have a problem installing the hdd with the OS as the board will need different chipset...

    Mixing memory modules

I have this memory Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB) in my system at the moment and am very happy with it. I need to add another 4GB of memory and was wondering if I could add a different brand. I dont want to spend 90 odd pounds when I can get very similar ram for half...

    My First Build Underwater

I wont go into the thermodynamics but needless to say I am a sceptic and have come to my conclusions by trial and error. I have been watercooling computers for quite a while, in fact years. There are one or two people that I respect in this field and so I do not tread on any toes at Overclockers...

    My First Build Underwater

Not true, max flow rate is after pump, most cpu blocks are impingment blocks, therefore, work best after pump. Res or T bar creates disturbance in the fluid and works best when not behind the rad, as this reduces rad efficiency. CPU is generally the most overclocked component in the loop...

    final water cooling check

With respect I do not rate the rad, cpu block or pump. The rad will not give you the flowrate you will need to cool an overclocked chip and gpu, the pump is not powerful enough and your block is near bottom of the pile for cooling efficiency. Would not advise to buy unless you just want a quiet...

    FAO Leon & Rich....

I wouldnt worry to much Rich I'm off on business for a week so have switched the farm off. Will be intermittent at best to be honest as I don't like leaving machines on at night (must be my age) as I'm paranoid about fires with the kids in the house. Still, just bought another 8800 gts for my...

First time water cooling, advice on my basket

It is not possible to cool tri sli and a cpu on one loop. The rads and pump you have chosen are sub standard and are not worthy of your components. If you have never watercooled before then I would ditch the idea as the money you would need to spend for quality components would be...

    Win SMP client..

Asus P5K premium. Will hit 4 Gb but has to go to insane volts after 470 fsb (CPU limited) Is currently running at stock volts 3.65 (not quite true as overvolts very slightly, cpu VID 1.2, currently 1.225) 32 degrees fully loaded under water. The board was brought out to celebrate Asus's 18th...

Original Apogee block any good for quad core?

Storm block is not better than an Apogee on a quad, the storms footprint is tiny and flow rate is severely restricted. Worked well on dual cores because the competition was rubbish at the time. Apogee has a larger footprint (for quads) and flowrate is very good compared to the Storm. As for...

    FAO Leon & Rich....

Well have now uploaded some clients, have a 8800 gts giving me 4000 approx and a few quads running smp, so am now hitting 10,000 ppd. Cannot be bothered clocking them as 2 are in htpc machines and I can do without the noise. Might buy a 4870 for the crack but hardly play games anymore, may get...
