Transfer of a bluray drive from a Acer 6930G to a Dell Studio 15

Dear Laptop Gurus, Tragically, my much love 6930G sucommed to water damage a few days ago and is beyond economical repair. Thankfully, the Bluray drive is absolutely fine so I was going to make continued use of it. I have my eye on the new Studio, perhaps secondhand, but I was thinking...

    Colour Accuracy on Facebook...

Hello Photo Gurus, I know facebook isn't exactly the pincale of photo hosting, but for photos of casual events I use it exclusively and colour accuracy is important to me. However, facebook has a nasty habit of chewing up and spewing out the colours, and very unreliably too - some methods...

Manning....down: where can I get gems and semi-precious stones?

Ok, so I'll make sure I don't catch my non-existant manhood on the way out, so bare with me here... Basically, many moons ago not long after me and my girlfriend met, in my more young and bohemian days, I made her a piece of wire-wrapped jewelary using some gold wire and a piece of Moldavite...

Moving from a Nokia 5230 to an HTC Desire - SIM question please...

Hey guys, I'm happy to say my shiny new HTC Desire has arrived, but I have a little problem with contacts. Basically, the SIM is full with 250 or so contacts (at least I think it's full) and when I put it in the Desire, it recognises this. The problem lies in that there is still 50 or so...

Spec me a calibrator for my NEC EA231WMi

Ah I see! After looking on forums and websites the number of people who claimed to have experience of any type of Spyder seemed much greater than the X-rite. snip

Spec me a calibrator for my NEC EA231WMi

These two both seem the best bets but the X-rite is currently winning me over by reviews by the smallest margain. It's just a shame that there appear to be fewer X-rite uses and so very little second-hand availability.

Spec me a calibrator for my NEC EA231WMi

Hey everyone, Recently I upgraded from a string of TN panels to my current NEC EA231WMi and have been sufficiently impressed with the colour accuracy to date. However, I've been asked to photograph a pair of weddings over the Summer, and as they are both good friends, I want to make sure that...

Value Polarising Filter for 400D : What would you suggest?

Dear photography gurus, I'm keen to get my hands on a decent Polarising filter for my 400D, probably for a 50mm 1.8 lens (filter diameter 55mm) but don't want to pay through the nose for it. This is pretty much as short and sweet as it gets. What would you suggest? Unlike lenses and...

Maths Thread Follow Up - The tessellation of different sized spheres!

Afternoon OcUK, I'm currently doing a modelling assignment regarding the use of radiation treatment on tumours, but for my own research to help I'm looking at the tessalation of spheres. A week back I posted a thread asking for views on my models for working out basic packing densities of...

Getting plastic membership cards made, anyone any suggestions?

Sorry, I probably haven't been too clear. I meant the websites offering the services seemed a little gimmicky, not exactly the kind of people who appear to have been in the buisness long, or who I ought to be handing money over to. The cards themselves will be to get discounts at training...

Getting plastic membership cards made, anyone any suggestions?

Hey all, As a president of a society at my University, I'm keen to bring in membership cards to increase the sense of identity of the society and make the large section of our society who are members but rarely participate feel more involved. But, if these things are going to last student...
