Didn't watch it live, but disappointing to see stupid debris yellows creeping back in. I respect Kyle Busch's talent but the fact he can theoretically win the title after missing 11 races is a bit much. Nascar must realise by now with the falling ratings that gimmicks and contrivances aren't...

The field's been 26 before, it's more linked to increased reliability than anything else. Even then you had one-off non-points results determining where Caterham\Marussia\HRT finished in the championship for a few years.

Sad news, but perhaps expected given the lack of improvement cited by his father. There were several factors involved in the crash, including the way the FIA handles yellow flag enforcement and wet weather running...but we've already had 9 months to discuss that.

Same with Phoenix. At least the aero problems don't crop up on sub 1.5-mile tracks...

Should be a good race, although I don't think Loudon has been as interesting as the other short tracks in recent years.

Not to that extreme, but with the banking as it is there's no real difference between the start and end of a fuel run. It can happen at slower speeds as well (Dover has seen a couple of examples in recent years). As far as driver safety is concerned, I'd be more worried about European single...

Tyres that drop off a bit more would be worth considering as well, since that would require much more slowing down in the corners.

I have to wonder how much longer Nascar can get away with putting cars into the fence at the plate tracks...sooner or later their luck will run out.

Was a pretty good race, shame Kurt lost ground on the last pitstop exchange, he was the fastest of the 3-stoppers to my recollection. Unfortunately the #48 team couldn't make their conservation strategy work.

I don't like either of those things, but I don't see how raving about it in an unrelated series discussion 7 years later will change how the FIA and money-oriented FOM/F1 work. It is very much on point, since you attacked his character in the first place. Here's a quote that explains why...
