I think that's still true for working as a small indie or himself... Maybe not the pressure. But until you make a hit, you'll be pouring all your free time for low pay. Very worth considering. Hell, I did a summer job for a few years whilst at uni for a company that did compliance testing...

As said. Do a decent CS course instead. If he likes he can take games relevant electives like AI and graphics. I did this then realised when I finished I didn't really fancy the games industry as much as I had four years previously. Just went into a java/web development role instead. :)

My first bit. Very very tempted to get an RP1 (or another Rega deck), after someone on here kept posting pictures of theirs. :p So that when I listen to records they're LOUD and not really really really quiet. It's a phono pre-amplifier.

A Rega Fono Mini A2D to replace the cheap pre-amp I lost when moving. :) It's not pretty, but (especially for the price) sounds amaaazing. :D Doubt I'll ever use the USB out, but it's handy to have.

Thanks for your help :) I'm not sure why it matters to everyone else so badly enough to comment. I want to play the game and need an upgrade regardless. It's not the only new game I want to play ever. I asked for technical help with my rig, not critique of the game.
