    Senheiser hd 555

Thanks for this. I guess I'll try them plugged in directly to the soundcard and see how I get on. Will probably do me like that for the time being at least.

    Senheiser hd 555

Hello all, I'm in the market for a set of headphones and have discovered these as within budget and with very favourable reviews. I would say my priorities would be: music/gaming/music recording in that order. It seems that they are favoured on this board by some, but just wondering if I'll...

    cheap international calls?

The trouble with phone cards is that they start taking money as soon as you use them. The sites I pointed out are 9p per minute to mobiles and landlines, and you get billed monthly, with a standard call connection charge to your account. Access numbers are another good way to make...

    cheap international calls?

1899.com or 18185.co.uk are 9p a min with an account, quite good too.

    Cold boot problem Gigabyte P35-DS4

Well I was still in warranty and I RMA'd via the supplier rather the manufacturer. It didn't take too long, but I couldn't tell exactly what I got back but it works fine. I tried everything, including 2.2v to no avail.

I RMA'd my motherboard in the end, and the replacement seems to be working fine.

    2x1gb to 4 x 1gb in vista

The main reason for going the 4 x 1 gb route was because it is a cheap upgrade option - in comparison to purchasing the more expensive 2 x 2gb and then having the hassle of selling the redundant 2 x 1gb that I'd have left over (and probably not making much back on them). I still have my 2 x...

    2x1gb to 4 x 1gb in vista

Ok, but does that mean that 2gb is sufficient in Vista - or is more than that beneficial, especially when you do a lot more than just browse the internet and send emails (obviously)?

What mail client do you use?

Thunderbird all the way. Don't get on with outlook or outlook express, or even IE.

    2x1gb to 4 x 1gb in vista

I know that you don't get the full compliment of 4gb in vista 32bit, but it's still ok I guess - given that I've noticed a more sizeable chunk of ram is taken just running vista (compared to xp). Also seems to be more background activity generally (hear a fair bit of hard drive activity even...

    2x1gb to 4 x 1gb in vista

Just a quick piece of advice needed really. Have just upgraded to Vista Ultimate 32bit and am already thinking I need more ram. It's gone from 1.5gb (approx) usable in XP to around 1gb (approx). I'm on a bit of a budget now, and am considering another 2 x 1gb kit of crucial ballistix pc6400 at...

    Cold boot problem Gigabyte P35-DS4

I'm running on 2.0 volts at present and it hasn't made any difference to booting up from cold...Have also tightened my ram timings to what they should be 4-4-4-12. Not sure what to try next, any ideas?

    Cold boot problem Gigabyte P35-DS4

    missing ntldr - sata drive

In the end, I installed xp on an ide drive and, surprisingly, ran into the same problem as above. That is, it formatted the partition, then said it couldn't read from the disk. Then I tried a previous xp slipstreamed copy and it installed without half the fuss! I guess that the latest...

    missing ntldr - sata drive

Cheers for the quick replies! There's no problem starting again, and wiping the system partition but I cannot get that far because it comes up with the missing NTLDR bit when booting with the XP disk. I'm assuming that resetting cmos will clear everything in the bios, leaving me free to boot...

    missing ntldr - sata drive

Hi, Recently changed my motherboard (GA-P35-DS4) and various other existing components, so I'm still using my old HD which had XP Pro already installed on one partition. The other partition is programs and data. I installed everything without a hitch, but came to boot up from the nlite copy...

Do you spend more time playing games or reading the internet ??

Lol, they may have a point! For me it varies. Sometimes I spend around 90% on news, forums, reading, researching etc and the rest on games. Other times, like at the moment, 50% gaming, 50% the rest.
