no i havent tried another HD as i dident want to start pulling it apart. I hope they can find the original recovery disks as i see no alternative. i was thinking about trying fixboot and fixmbr in the recovery console and see what they came out with. thanks for the help Tom

well the apples use a firewire > usb on the mains charger right. soo how would it be able to tell the power source :S

have u tried phoning your isp to see if they are working on your line or anything ?

with Windows xp its easy just do the network setup wizard and make sure there on the same workgroup, Home or MShome i think. then just click all sharing of internet and it should pick the connection up :)
