Who do you think plans, implements and tests the damage limitation measures? ;) Long term, we're fairly bulletproof, but in the short term, I could nuke all local data and destroy the physical boxes, delaying recovery from the off-site tapes by several days, if not weeks.

Nope, you got it. T-Mobile will subsidise the cost of the handset provided you sign to a minimum turn contract, but because you're not buying directly from them, it won't be branded or SIM locked.
