Yeh when I get home I'll try mucking about with the CMOS. Tis my final strand of hope that I'm clinging to like a koala in a hurricane.
Assuming it needs replaced and now that I'm more aware of OTHER powered issues that the board seems to have... is there a good replacement?
Yeh tried shorting it in and out of case.
Now admittedly I didnt clear the CMOS, which I guess is an oversight, but has a motherboard ever not powered up AT ALL because of such a thing?
Hope so... :p
Tested out of case.
Tested different kettle leads.
Power is, alas, on at the switch.
Other parts (all new):

Asus GTX 560Ti

Just tried to build everything for the first time last night and yeh, it ain't even booting. Doesn't spin up or even stutter. Read about cold booting and cycling issues but this just seems like a dead board.
Things I've tried
1. Checking that both power cables are connected
2. Checking...
Currently running an X2 4400, 2GB RAM, 7800GTX... so yeh... pretty old - still going strong though :P
Was looking for a rig that'd be good for gaming, coding, photo editing and any other general magic.
On a budget of about £800 but fortunately there's a few things I don't need so can...
Yeh I figured as much.
Won't be doing anything majorly intensive anyway. Although it'd be nice to fit a cheeky low power video card in there somewhere and a USB dongle for sound. Think the GT520 is appropriate... although I can't remember what the equivalent ATI would be.
Just hope the rebate...
Alrighty, flat's tech renovation is nearly complete.
Replaced frustrating DIR-615 (DD-WRT) with Asus RT-N16 (with tomato)

Me and my flatmate got bored so we decided to empty about 3 deodorant cans for some "flaming mouth" photography.
Only had time to touch up one so far. Just some mild sharpening was needed.
Shutter speed was 1/10s with an aperture of f/4.8.
It only changes the big things. It takes me about 20 seconds to then get it set up for how I want it.
At least with the D80, the button reset is considered a light reset. It will reset things like shooting mode, quality, exposure compensation, ISO... Just things that could potentially ruin...
Really liking those shots. My favourite being number 4 for sure because of you can see the sweat flying of his arm.
And aye, Auto ISO can sometimes be a double edged sword. Sometimes useful and sometimes you forget that it's on etc etc.
Which is why (and this is the best bit of advice I...
Aye Penguin I already did that. But as I say, the day/light was fairly boring so I only worked on the colour version for photoshop practise.
Need to find a good tutorial on layer blending etc.
Was a horrendously dull and cloudy day so I thought I'd see what I could do with my D80. Turns out it was a bit overexposed so the sky (while not missing much) was washed out.
So I'd try for a minorly serious attempt in Photoshop.
What do you guys think?
Edit: Sorry for the daft...
Been attempting HDR shots, but they always come out extremely noisey. Any reason for this do you think?
I shoot them in Aperture Priority, so as to lock down the DoF so I don't get any nasty effects.
