Thanks for the reply RJC, seems similar to what I was looking at.
As for what sort of media work... Maybe I worded myself a little poorly, but what I meant was that I'd be watching HD movies/transcoding video and stuff like that.
I'm looking at putting together a new build, but I'm not looking to break the bank like days of old when I could justify splurging money on the top end stuff.
I'm looking for something that would work primarily as a light gaming (Minecraft/WoW/Source engine games) and as a media machine.
I...
I'm looking for a 24"+ monitor for photography/post.
I've managed to narrow it down to either the Dell U2410 or U2412.
From what I've found the U2410 seems to be king as far as colour reproduction goes, and the U2412 seems to suffer a little from being LED lit and having a different IPS panel...
Is it really a clicking noise or more a faint whine or hiss? It's most likely loaded capacitors humming/vibrating away at hight frequency than anything else.
Fair game, I completely overlooked that segment of the market. I stand corrected.
That being said, they haven't really done anything promising to threaten Intel's dominance in the mid/high-end for a while. They've been competing on value, a race to the bottom of sorts (though overall, that's...
What reasons do you have for going with vB? Any particular features that are swaying you that way?
Regardless, any of the options will work well enough for even the biggest of forums; for the most part it will come down to personal preference and for me vB seems to be focusing on the wrong...
That's why I said WoW will not die overnight; people are invested in the game, but there also seems to be a growing number of people who are simply tired of it or not happy with how the game is and who are looking for something new and fresh to explore.
WoW will not die from a massive blow all...
Those hoping for something revolutionary will be disappointed. It's evolutionary, but still seems very much rooted in traditional MMO mechanics.
If it's polished and doesn't have any major issues at launch, I can see it taking a good chunk out of WoW, but WoW will not suddenly die overnight.
If you asked me a few years ago, I would have told you to stay well away from OS based OCing, but it seems as though recently the tools have caught up and are generally acceptable for most cases. Of course, some people just prefer diving into the BIOS and tinkering about, but for the most part...
If I was to start up fresh with the few forums I run, I would definitely go with IPB or Xenforo. vB really seems to have hit the rocks since the take over and seems to be aiming for feature bloat over quality.
Perhaps it's just me being a skeptic, but I have a feeling September will just be a paper launch/extremely low supply until mid-October.
As for Bulldozer itself, I really want it to be good, but AMD's track record the past few years has not been positive.
Good old Critical Thinking. If I remember rightly, I completely bombed that subject in the exam despite being a relatively intelligent and capable guy. To this day I still have no idea how I did so badly, nor do I particularly care.
Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about that. Engineering is a solid and well respected degree and if you make it through the system, a lot of people don't, with a decent result you should be fine as far as jobs go as long as you are willing to be flexible and don't have your heart set on a...
I got my Dad, a largely computer illiterate guy, an iPad last Christmas instead of something like a netbook. Really glad I went the iPad route, I don't remember the last time he asked for help with it after I helped him with the initial set up. So yea, I guess that's an endorsement for it.
