Chrome Youtube 2160p60 HDR stutter / lag

I think it's the youtube VP9 10bit content which my gtx 1080 can't decode, so it's going into software mode and my ryzen 5 is struggling to process a 4k60 video. Got to say I'm surprised that a 1080 can't do vp9 10bit. Its such a powerful card, I just assumed it would be able to do it.

Chrome Youtube 2160p60 HDR stutter / lag

Thanks, I'll check when I'm back from work. Is it possible that my gtx 1080 doesn't support decoding of VP9 10bit or above video? This nvidia table suggests so: https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-decode-gpu-support-matrix#Decoder

Chrome Youtube 2160p60 HDR stutter / lag

If i play a YouTube video at 4k60 the gpu assists with the processing and the 'video engine load' in gpu-z goes up. As soon as I change it to HDR (4k60), the video engine load no longer goes up and the video will drop frames and lag. So it must be the hdr which is causing the issue in chrome...

Chrome Youtube 2160p60 HDR stutter / lag

No, there's no mention of that in the chrome Gpu info. Edge won't play hdr videos. Or at least I can't get them to work as they do in YouTube. I'm not sure how to resolve this issue. Been playing around in chrome flags trying to enable some of the things which are reported as disabled in the...

Chrome Youtube 2160p60 HDR stutter / lag

The VP9 vid world in HDR works flawlessly in vlc. I don't know how to open it in chrome. However, looks like it must be hardware acceleration issues in chrome.

Chrome Youtube 2160p60 HDR stutter / lag

Is that called video engine load? Cause that stays at 0. Bus interface load rises slightly to about 8%. This is my chrome gpu flags: Canvas: Hardware accelerated Flash: Hardware accelerated Flash Stage3D: Hardware accelerated Flash Stage3D Baseline profile: Hardware accelerated Compositing...

Chrome Youtube 2160p60 HDR stutter / lag

I'm on Windows build 1803. Gpu acceleration is flagged as on in the chrome settings. If I remember correctly the cpu usage during the 4k60 hdr youtube vids was approx 50% and Gpu was very low at about 15%.

Chrome Youtube 2160p60 HDR stutter / lag

The TV YouTube app doesn't support hdr, so can't use that as a comparison unfortunately. 4k60 is fine in the TV app though. I've downloaded some LG hdr test videos which I've played in vlc. Codec info says it's 2160p at 60fps and the TV is displaying a hdr logo, so I think it's working, it...

Chrome Youtube 2160p60 HDR stutter / lag

Hi guys, Just recently got a new TV (Sony xe9005) and have been playing around with HDR content. Everything has been great - Ps4 pro, pc games in 4k60 hdr, iplayer, 4k HDR movies. However, when using my PC connected via a high speed hdmi cable (which works fine with games and movies at 4k...

No display on new Ryzen build

There are only 2 slots for ram as it's a m-itx board.

No display on new Ryzen build

Oh! Really? I just assumed it did. Why does it have 2 hdmi out connectors then? Best put my gtx 1080 back in for future attempts then.

No display on new Ryzen build

I'm not getting any beeps, so I don't think the speaker is installed. I tried booting with one stick of ram earlier and it made no difference. I also tried to boot with the hard drive disconnected to see if it was issues with Windows being installed previously with an Intel cpu, but again it...

No display on new Ryzen build

This morning I installed a new motherboard - asrock b350 gaming, cpu - Ryzen 1600 and ram - Team Group Dark Pro "8Pack Edition" 16GB. The pc is powering up but I'm getting no display. I've tried with my gtx 1080 and with the on-board gfx. Neither is giving me a display. I've also reset the CMOS...

Upgrading my system after motherboard broke, can I recover windows?

Thanks for your replies guys. I'll try and web chat with Microsoft to see if they can give me a new license or link it to my Microsoft account. At least the pc will boot up with a deactivated windows. From there I should be able to sort things out. Cheers for the help.

Upgrading my system after motherboard broke, can I recover windows?

Hi guys, So, my motherboard broke and I've decided to upgrade my whole system: i5 2500k to Ryzen 1600 with new ram, motherboard (m-itx) and SSD. Now my question is, can I recover my installation of Windows 10? If I plug in my old hard drive into the new motherboard will it repair windows and...

Gtx 970 running at pcie x4

I've blown dust out of the slot a few times but it made no difference. Overclocked at 1500mhz on the core and 8000mhz on the memory I get 1550 in heaven which looks similar to your score. Here's the weird thing. Two days ago I turned my pc on, checked gpu-z and it showed the 970 was running...

Gtx 970 running at pcie x4

Yeah I know you can't get 8GT/s on pcie 2.0. But the bandwidth is different from what I understand, pcie 2.0 x16 should be 8GB/s. I suspect my motherboard is possibly faulty, so after trying so many different fixes and changes I think I have to accept that either gpu-z is wrong or my gpu is...

Gtx 970 running at pcie x4

Yep. I've tried it on disabled, medium savings and high savings. Makes no difference I'm afraid.

Gtx 970 running at pcie x4

Isn't the shift from 2.5 GT/s to 5 just the change in transfer rate from pcie 1.1 to 2.0 when under load? Shouldn't the bandwidth of x1, 4, 8 & 16 change too. So at x4 I'm only getting 2GB/s, where as at x16 (if it was working correctly) I'd be getting 8GB/s.

Gtx 970 running at pcie x4

Update: I tried DDU but nothing changed during the gpu-z render test, still x4 under load. I ran heaven at 1080p, ultra quality, extreme tessellation, aa x8. Score 1400 with no OC. Does that seem ok? Using HWiNFO64 sensors the pcie link speed is at 2.5 GT/s when idle and 5.0 GT/s when under load.
