Increasing Mains Cold Water Pressure and Flow Rate

your static pressure seems to be decent, an expansion vessel/accumulator (in the loft for example) would help for peak water flow you require. you will not be able to use the full capacity of the expansion vessel/accumulator however, it needs to be oversized.

Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance (MPPI) worth having?

I was recommended by my IFA to get one even if it wasn't through him; I earn significantly more than my partner, so in the event of redundancy or illness etc she wouldn't be able to pay the mortgage herself. I have mine with i-protect for £15 a month for accident, sickness and unemployment for...

    Advice on accident damage

yes they can... but they shouldn't have any right to do it... had my car worth around £1500 at the time hit on the passenger side door. Got cash from the 3rd party, and got a 2nd hand door, however they also put a Cat C on the car without telling me, which I only found out when trying to tax/mot...

Stop a cat crapping in my garden

You could try lion wee or manure, never tried it myself but I did read about it a while back ! The cats get the scent and avoid the area apparently.

X-Tex Artex Remover - anyone used it?

We used it for our house, but it really depends on the kind of artex. It works well but can be quite time intensive though if your Artex has been painted over several times or is tough. I'd chip away the peaks and get it plastered, or overboard with plasterboard, both much quicker, easier and...

How many LED lights per room?!

generally 1 downlight per m2 would give you a rough idea. Make sure you account for fitted wardrobes, wall cabinets in the kitchen that reduce your ceiling space etc. Do you have any ideas which way your joists are running and spacing between joists? It's just something to keep in mind. You...

Advice to soundproof wall from neighbors TV?

Had the same issue but worse, have brought a house around September last year which is late 1960s build, breeze block party walls, and could hear the neighbours talking next door - they weren't being overly loud or shouty, the wall was just rubbish! I've used tecsound 100 + 19 mm plank...

New house purchase - Boiler required

I'd recommend a system boiler with an unvented system too, the hot water flow is brilliant and I wouldn't go back to a combi. Get a plumber in to check your water pressure in your property, this will dictate which kind of system you can go for afaik if water pressure is too low you cannot get a...

    Winter summer wheel switch

You wouldn't need an expensive torque wrench, the Clarke CHT141 at 25 quid would do the job just fine. Most of the places to get tyres changed would just use an air wrench and over-torque it anyway.

Hit by Lorry this morning! - Dashcam footage

I drive past there every day and get on the A3 northbound there in the morning. I have noticed more foreign lorries cut across into the middle lane when turning left there, though you do get british ones doing it too from time to time. Its just poor lane positioning by the lorry maybe not...

    *** Tado Mini Review ***

I recieved my tado last week and installed it myself in around 30 mins. The guides online are very good, and the instructions have been made to be soo easy to perform. it's all up and running now. I took out the rental option to see how things go over winter, and if all goes well will buy in 6...

    Had an accident :(

That is absolutely unacceptable in my eyes! I wouldn't be standing for that at all, complain and ask to speak to a manager at the insurance company. You shouldn't have to sort out your wrecked car, that's their job and they are trying to palm it off to you!

Do I need a standalone satnav?

I'd recommend waze instead of google maps, the traffic routing on that is pretty good, and has speed cameras, and best of all its free! There's a lot of users reporting hazards and incidents, and after being brought by google there has been integration of google maps traffic into the app. If it...

    Luggage

I brought a tripp hand luggage with wheels from debenhams a 3 or 4 years ago for a very reasonable price, it's still going strong! I used to go from london to aberdeen and back weekly (at least 100 flights in total) and rolled the luggage through the town centre in aberdeen at least 120 miles in...
