Can anyone tell me if the X1950 Pro 512 is faster than the 7800GS+ 512. Are there any comparison fps tests anywhere ? Looking to get one of these, but only if I can expect a decent increase in fps over the 7800GS+ 512

I have seen rumours in the PC mags of an nvidia 8800 card for the AGP socket. Anyone have any more info on this ?

I've had the 7800GS+ for about 3 months now and have to say it is a superb upgrade if you want to keep your AGP based system. I am mainly an RTS and sim player, but also have the RPG Oblivion and played some FPS's. Oblivion runs with max graphical settings, 4xAA and 4xAF at stock vid card...

It is definately a 7900 core with the full 24 pipes, no doubt about it!

Also, if you have a spare filter, try that on the phone socket. I had one of those go faulty on me a while back and the adsl signal could not get through.

Nvidia CP does report gpu temps, you should see a Temperature settings option in the slide out menu.

Appears to be solved now after a google trawl. In the IE menu I went to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and unchecked 'Use smooth scrolling'. The squeal from the psu has gone now :) No idea why that should suddenly have become a problem though as the mouse (Intellimouse Explorer wired optical)...
