    Bent motherboard a problem??

I've only ever found it a problem with graphics card when a heatsink is tensioned too much and it puts a curve in the board, the card's worked fine but occasionally it gives off a high pitched squeel. listen carefully to it to see if you get the same problem it'd be interesting if you did.

Paranoia, tell me i'm not mad

Thanks scottiB, some sound advice there, i'll give sandra a blast anyway but i've run 3dMark06 now and got a score of 6254 SM2: 2739 SM3: 2646 CPU: 1784 ORB seems to think it's about average for the spec, middle between fastest and slowest so i'm going to just beat windows with a big digital...

Paranoia, tell me i'm not mad

If i do find a problem, how can i go about troubleshooting it? I've run programs like memtest, prime95 (on both cores) and on all stress tests, but i'm thinking it might be the 7900 card, is there any way to test that other then 3Dmark?

Got Crysis for Xmas: Upgrade time

meh... that AND the motherboard upgrade at out of my budget... by a long way! i was loooking at spending bare minimum on a graphics card or not at all. right now i'm happy with the majority of the effects my computer and graphics card can run crysis on, but i really think it's just the CPU...

Got Crysis for Xmas: Upgrade time

Wow, you've cirtanly given me somethign to ponder over Thanks for the chipset info, i know what to look for now. I'm a little reluctant to switch to ATI, so many of my games are made for nvidia and i can really see the differance, and i'm a little paranoid about ATI GPUs being hotter then the...

    Slow EVERYTHING on stock clock

    Q. why have you SLi'd two low end graphics cards? A. I did it because they are the most powerfull passivly cooled boards available to me at the time and within my budget because the spec required a near silent setup. Q. Have you checked all 4 cores are recognised by windows? A. All 4 cores...

Cold, quiet and value for money?

no, i've already specked up a rig for him, got it to £550 with very few compromises, i've carefully talored it to him and met all his needs including geforce 8 cards runing in SLi with a quad core CPU and 4X 250GB drives running in RAID 5... in the end i've decided to go with...

Cold, quiet and value for money?

No it's not going to be overclocked and the budget is £600 and with that he wants SLi graphics. If you can recomend a good quiet heat sink (possibly fanless) that'll cool a quad core i might be able to talk him into increasing the budget a bit
