plumbers of ocuk... crazy airing cupboard & shower issue...

The gate valve on the hot inlet to your pump could be partially closed. They have a tendancy to not open properly once closed, and if your shower valve is only 6 months old the I imagine it's been shut of recently.

    Road Tripping in the USA!

Thanks for the responses chaps. Routes not set in stone yet, open to either way round. Was trying to avoid staying in Vegas over a weekend as prices seem to double but im not going to sacrifice time elsewhere to avoid it. Prevailing opinion seems to be go for the 'stang on your first road...

    Road Tripping in the USA!

I'm currently planning out a trip to the West Coast on 30th Sept. to 16th Oct. next year. (LA-SF-LV-SD-LA loop) Got a few questions which I'm sure have been answered but here we go anyway! Got my eye on flights with Norweigan with are £450pp return to LAX at the moment, they seem reasonable and...

    Bathroom wall waterproofing!

Dot and dab plasterboard, wedi/marmox board stuck and screwed, then paint on waterproofer (ardex o a fairly good one). Never had any trouble. You could also tape all the joints too if you want to but if it's not a wet room it's not necessary. What's going in the room? Unless your chucking...

    The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Picked this up yesterday, had 4 hours crash free monster slaying, but today I can't go more than 10 minutes without the display cutting out, but still have sound. Not changed anything in between, drivers are all up to date, temps were fine each time before it crashed. Running an i5 760 @3ghz...

Joining 10mm copper pipe - DIY job?

Could be a couple of hours work, depending on your heating system. Might take time to refill and balance if necessary. Microbore pipework is almost always a hassle, if your set on soldering make sure you get all the water out or you'll have a hell of a time making a good joint. Why not use...

    **** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

I've been running it for the past few days on a Lynnfield ( I think?) i5 at 3ghz, 4gb ram and a 450GTS and its painful, CTD quite a few times due to low memory. Aside from that it looks OK, but still stutters a lot. Your probably better off sticking to the XB1 at least for a patch or two. I've...

    Please help with plumbing/shower/pump

It it was mains fed there would be no need for a pump :p Check the shower head, been to many customers homes where a shower hasn't been used for months and doesn't work because the head has scaled up badly, not letting water pass. Because the pump uses flow switches to turn on, there's little...

    Noodle appreciation thread

Morrisons do a jumbo size Nongshim hot and spicy bowl thats just over a quid, its in a polystyrene not paper cup though and tastes a bit funky compared to the regular one. I have an Instant Noodle King shrimp and chicken (from tescos world isle) up for trial tomorrow, looks OK and quite a big tub.

    Pipework in the floor

Fill the pipework and leave it under pressure for a few days, check all the joints then screed it back in. You might have trouble if the chase isnt deep enough as you've used foam lagging rather than hair felt, if the screeds not thick enough I'll crack.

Plumbing - Water flow rate Copper Vs Plastic?

Bore differences between plastic and copper of the same size (i.e. 22mm) are fractions of a millimeter, so will have next to no difference on flow rate. If you have issues with new installations its most likely due to pipes being undersized, excessive use of restrictive fittings (like elbows)...

    Radiator dimensions

How old is the house/heating system? They're probably in inches (Imperial).

Moving into a house which has been empty for 6-9 months.

If it has a cold water storage cistern I'd give it a check, make sure a squirrel or whatever hasn't been doing backstroke in it and died.

Can you fit a gas cooker yourself

As has been said, a blind one-armed monkey could push a hose in to a bayonet fitting. The issues arise with the correct hose length, type, angle it sits at, distance from floor, the way the bayonet is facing, how the appliance is secured etc that cause the problems. Its all a swizz until your...

    Water Pressure

Have you checked its not the softener at fault? Otherwise it does sound like the pressure and flow rates weren't properly tested before deciding on using a mains pressure system. It should be easy enough to add an accumulator in to maintain the 2bar you do have when using more than one...
