the e6400 has a higher multi than the e6300 and these cpu's will be fsb starved so a higher multi will help. as for the OP the old netburst of p4's was awful and required high clocks to match amd however now they scrapped the netburst they can get higher performance from lower clocks like AMD...
I always use the file server excuse to add another cruncher to my rosetta farm with the intention of adding a scsi array but the money always goes towards upgrading the cpu :p. Currently My old AXP is my only reliable rig so I backup any important stuff onto it's massive 40gb IDE 5400rpm drive. :D
I don't think there are any choices if you want to buy new. The cheapest pci-e dual core compatiable m'boards are the old nforce4 sli boards but there's a reason there cheap so don't expect amazing oc's . The cheap dual core overclocking board would be the asus p5ld2 which offers...
XS has been having server problem's and there new one's died after today so fugger is switching it back to the old one so should be back online soon. Believe me though the results coolaler posted were very nice and he hasn't put them on his site yet so im guessing there's more to come ;)
or unplugging/turnign off all computers from the network and then unplugging + replugging in the router. Does the same job as reset button but this way you know it did it right ;).
the problem could have been something causing the router to reset, unplugging it etc. whilst another computer...
The only real benefits from pci-e that i know of is upgradability, also they are now often cheaper than their agp counterparts as agp are no longer being produced.
Although sooner or later you are going too have too upgrade too pci-e if you want too upgrade your system so you might aswell...
I have no problem helping out friends and family aslong as they are prepared to do favors that i ask after all arent true freinds and family supposed too help each other out?
However when i fix my "friend's" computers for them, and then they mock me for being a geek the next day i feel like...
Well im not sure whats causing your restarts as it could be numerous things but it dosent seem like its the temps as your cpu temperature looks fine. It sounds like your case temp probes wrong, as having a cpu temp that much lower than case temp is extremely rare without some form of duct.
cpu temp of 50C shouldnt cause any instability issues as amd say anything upto 60C is fine. However if you mean case temp of 50C then yes its way too hot!!
I was considering water cooling too, but too get noticable differences over good air it will be cost close too £200!!! Then i noticed you can pick up second hand prommie mach 1's for sub £200 :D. and temps of -30C make waters sub ambient temps absolutely pointless (except for noise levels)
Doesn't the bios report -124C once the cpu breaks 100C  ? if s yes you are very lucky, a minute at this temp even killed my old 0.18nm celeron. Not sure how it could have happened as it sounds like a molex failure but you say there working again so maybe something decided it didnt want...
Yes you can change the fan and heatsink individually however if its not overclocked and not put under great amount of load any socket A heatsink should be suffice.
Are you sure its not just preset in the bios or somewhere for your fan too speed up when your computer breaks a certain...
Its a brilliant cooler and works perfect for my IHSless laptop 3200+. The securing plate thing is quite flexible and i know from experience that you can clearly see it bending before it'll crack the core. The only problems ive had with mine is trying to get to the nuts too tighten them, and it...
you woman put 1.4v through it and try for the full 16 pipes :p
as for the op i would say the 6800LE is better than your 6600gt and has better potential. however as said previously unless your seling your 6600gt too cover the bulk of a 6800LE's cost then it probably isnt worth it.
