Hello,
Im interested in upgrading my MBP to 8gb with:

There seems to be 3x single modules left - can i buy two of these, or must i buy an 8gb kit of identical modules?
Im asking because of...
Yea i spotted the Passport Studio, but the photo here on OC did it no favours so i didnt give it another thought. I've just been on the WD site and I have to say it is a nice one alright. Cheers for that Slack; I think I'll order this one.
Could you post some pics of the Seagate for Mac, I'll...

I really don't want a separate power supply... pity the above...
Hello,
Can anyone recommend a good external HDD; preferably at least 100gig, doesnt have an awkward separate power supply, and wouldn't look lost sitting beside a MacBook Pro.... something nice and slick!
Cheers!
Rig is as in my sig... i assume if i were to stick a 3rd stick of 1Gb memory into the system i would lose dual channel mode. Would it be worth losing this to gain an extra 1Gb of memory? My main uses for the system at the moment will be large photoshop, cad and 3ds max files.
Theres an almost...
No, that reading is not assuming anything... its shows 100 in coretemp which is used for calculating the cpu temperature in default settings... However, the delta to tjunction is the exact reading from the DTS. No equations are used...it doesnt take the 100 or 85 into account, it just shows the...
assuming the tjunction for the 2160 is 85, delta to tjunction of 60 would mean 85minus60 giving a temp of 25... You have 60degrees to go before you reach the tjunction
Core temp .95 assumes a tjunction of 100 for that processor which is wrong, when set to 'delta to tjunction' there are no...
I came across this thread when trying to find out which temp to believe myself.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=131008
From reading that thread it would seem that coretemp .95 at default settings reads the temperature wrong, as does TAT (Apparently they assume an...
Well, my motherboard - abit ip35e was beeping away but the system can start up and is stable in orthos... I've unplugged the speaker for the time being, but what could be wrong?
The motherboard tends to boot up once, shut down after 5 seconds, and boot up again to windows... Sometimes when...
Regarding temperature monitoring on these cpu's and which to trust :
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=131008&page=8
Core temp 0.95 with the setting 'Show delta to Tjunction temp' seems to be the best way of monitoring temps while overclocking. The default setting is BS...
what should the vcore limit be to this cpu when cooling on air.
At the moment im putting 1.432v (cpu-z) thru it, hitting 360 x 9 (3240Mhz). I've been running orthos for 1hr and getting a max temp of 60c.
Im going to leave it running all night... if it is to fail, is it safe enough to pump more...
the usb keyboard works fine in windows... i don't understand why the system will not boot unless the old ps2 keyboard is connected? It stays on the Abit logo...
I have a usb keyboard but have had to use an old ps2 keyboard to access the bios and change settings etc... Now, my pc will not boot into windows unless i have the ps2 keyboard connected... i then have to disconnect it when in windows as the a few of the keys are jammed and bring up windows...
I noticed while at stock and idle, using cpuz, that the multiplier was set to 6x rather than the 9x i have it set to in bios. When i ran orthos cpuz showed the voltage increase and the multiplier climb to 9x.
However, now that i have tried overclocking, with the bus speed set to 333 and the...
