For my laptop to HI-FI, I use the Audioquest Dragonfly. USB to 3.5mm and a decent cable into pre-amp. The PC has the Sound Blaster 7.1. I use the optical output to my Marantz receiver. All sounds lovely to me.

I bent over 20 pins on my CPU. I used an eyeglass, scalpel blade and a pack of plastic playing cards. Took hours of offering it up to the socket before finally fitting. Still works fine.

Just to add my point. I have a Pioneer BDR-XD07 J-UHD external drive off USB-C. Plays blu-ray, dvd, cd. As I have a AMD Ryzen, X470 & Titan it will not play 4k discs. Therefore, like me, we wait.
