Laptop server, command line or desktop?

There a ways to do it, essentially you just need to prevent gdm from loading on startup or updating lightdm.conf to not startup. That said you are probably a lot better off using ubuntu server if you are using the laptop as server: http://www.ubuntu.com/business/server/overview

    Left 4 Dead 2 - Should I?

Best played with a few friends. If you're playing on your own (with the public), you may find yourself getting a little bored. Leaving someone behind is a little more of a dilemma when it's someone you know.

    Firefox 4 is UGLY.

Anyone else having problems with firefox 4 locking up? Not just one tab but the entire application. Think it's related to the flash plugin...makes me want to switch back to 3.6...

    ***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

I think we all did our fair share of friendly fire on that one.

Finished Stalker. Woe is me. What next?

I probably don't need to say this as it is probably common knowledge by now...perhaps there should be a sticky or something....but how about Deus Ex? A bit old I know.

    Perry Rhodan

Yeah, I'm enjoying it quite far although it seems to run windowed by default which is fine by me. The graphics are good and the sound is also good, it seems a lot more forgiving than other point and click adventures (it won't let you leave some rooms until you've done everything).

    Oracle 10g RAC

Yeah the Oracle Uni is rather expensive, and I am doubtful about how much can really be learnt in 5 days. I did a 5 day j2ee course there and I can barely remember a thing, but I suppose it really depends on how much time you are willing to spend using it afterwards. My advice is really just...

    OMG. SupCom: Forged Alliance. Brilliant!

The campaign is alright, not all that hard once you start turtling. It's very easy as the aeon because building paragons gives you pretty much limitless resources Anyone maxed out a paragon yet? http://www.supcomdb.com/db/unit_details/2/3/xab1401 10k maximum mass output apparently...

Making a Window Stay on Top?

Yeah, I'd be interested in any way of getting this working. In the linux world this is a feature they all get and I often miss the option in windows.

Ubisoft, (free) web based heroes of might and magic

Not sure if this has already been posted but I couldn't contain myself. http://kotaku.com/gaming/free-might-and-magic/ubisoft-reveals-web+based-might-and-magic-333518.php The heroes series of games were very enjoyable; if ubisoft pull this off well, they could ruin people lives. The...

25 and Over vs under 25's?

Sounds good to me. Under 25 here. Only own TF2 out of those on your list.

    Good scarey games !

It really has to be Doom 3 on nightmare with surround sound. If you don't have a surround sound, use headphones. Oh and don't play it during the day, that's just cheating. System Shock 2 is kinda scary but being brought back to life constantly takes the edge off.

Creating a fileserver - filesystem choices

I've always used reiserfs because of it's speed when dealing with small files, but I doubt it is going to be further developed or supported.
